Double Day Winner Blade Impressions

   I recently purchased a Double Day Winner blade from schen. He asked me to write a review of the blade, but I don't really feel qualified to do so. I am glad to post my impressions however. Below is a link to Next Level's review of another Double Day blade in their product line and it has good info on the background of these blade makers.

From what I understand the Winner is Double Day's equivalent to Butterfly's Timo Boll ALC blade. A year ago I played with a TB ALC so I have at least some sense of the comparison. Recently I have been playing with a Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro Black which is an all wood blade. I am happy with it and will continue to use it. I had no plan to try an ALC type blade, but schen's description caught my interest.

The blade came in a nice box and the quality was evident. I would say the quality is on par with the similar Butterfly blades. I did lightly sand the wings. The blade was already sealed. My blade was an ideal weight for me of 86-87 grams. I glued Tibhar Evolution EL-P 2.0 on the FH and Evo FX-P 2.0 on the BH. I played 3 hours with it Monday night and 4 hours with it last night.

I immediately liked it from the very first strokes. It has a very nice feel for a carbon blade. My touch on the table was excellent and no worse than my normal wood blade. Serves and pushes might be even a touch better for me. Play back from the table is as good as I was expecting and better than my wood setup. My FH loop in particular seemed to have a bit extra spin. Lobs and smashes were excellent. I felt very confident playing with it, which is unusual for me. I normally take 2-3 days to feel comfortable with a new blade.

I am very happy with the purchase and will continue to play with it for a while to see if the early favorable impressions wear off. From what I understand, schen is going to be selling these for $100, which seems like a reasonable price for a quality blade like this. Overall, I like it better than the TB ALC that I used to play with.

Hopefully schen will post his own thoughts on this blade as well. I'm confident he is more knowledgable about it than I am.

	One other detail I left out of the first post. My version is a FL handle. I prefer a beefy handle, which is one of the reasons I like the Tibhar Sammy so much. This handle is slightly smaller, but it is substantial enough to meet my preferences.

	I actually the Black edition. I love the Blue Edition. But I know I am in the wilderness on that one. I have to try this blade at some point.
	I like putting heavy topspin on the ball... Cybershape Carbon FH/BH: H3P 41D. Lumberjack TT, not for lovers of beautiful strokes. No time to train...
