Hey everyone,

I've ordered a couple of music stands and enough inverted rubber to make one inverted return board.  I'd like to create a second one with long pips to get more comfortable against them.  I've never faced them in a tournament, but it is only a matter of time and I'd rather it be a good experience when I do Smile

Of course I understand it is better to practice against a person using this rubber, but there are just not enough opportunities.

My question: Does this look like a reasonable choice?

I'm thinking most any long pips will do and these are the right price, but a library could be filled with what I don't know about pips out rubbers.

It should work and the price is right.

Seriously..?

Sounds a bit elaborate to be honest...

I think you'd be best served if you made up a bat with long pips on one side inverted on the other...

Use your most disliked blade in you draw or buy a cheap one...

Get your training buddy to play with it and take it in turns to use it...

It will be good for you to focus on the red and black side in relation to the spin effect (or lack of it), which is more like a game...

Don't be surprised if you have crazy success with the DarkSide. It's good fun...

Enjoy!

Sound advice, a lot of problems that people face against pips out players is not just spin reversal, but also the confusing signals in interpreting the pips out opponents strokes( say they push your push back and you get light topspin, your mind tricks you into thinking its backspin and you pop it up while pushing), its much better to get a practice bat and play a live opponent

if you had the correct surface - (like a piece of stiff plywood ?)

you could have 100% ball reversal, no LPs needed

:)

837 will tear off at the pip base if you use it for a return board. I am not sure why ppl make LP return boards but we have sold them 755 BLACK with good success. DO NOT USE 837.

You can get 755 black 1.0mm sponge from USA suppliers for 5 bucks a whack

Thanks for the excellent information. I will try the bare wood surface first and then get the 755 from zeropong if I later decide to go the pips route.  (I've got some balls already on the way from there.)

I did not see these replies earlier.  I want to stick with inverted, but I suppose if I play a bit with the pips one side, that will give me a better sense of their weaknesses than just reading about it.

Sorry, I didn't see these replies earlier about creating a bat with LPs on one side.  I'm looking into this option, which I guess would cost no more than 10 LP rubbers.
