Hey all. About to go play for the first time in years probably tomorrow or Monday at the local club. Last I played it was with the old celluloid ball so I have not ever used the poly balls. And until today didn't even realize there was a rule change a couple years ago. It seems like old threads (from 2014) say the new balls are slower with less spin and not as consistent in regards to manufacturing standards. Did this change at all over the past couple years? It seems like it would have taken a huge edge away from the top tier club players who are aging and relied on heavy spin play but not sure as I quit around 08 or so....long before the ball rules changed.

I'm guessing you wouldn't have even noticed had you not known about the ball change. Honestly it's not that much different. Once you start to play with plastic exclusively, you don't even notice after a while... At least I don't.

There was definitely a short break in period when I was chopping.
Felt like people were returning a little easier at first. Now can't really tell the difference... |

I think I've learned to physically adjust more than anything. Now the old balls feel light and "touchy" to me.

Just play with them for awhile. Ideally, chose good ones. Avoid Chinese seamed balls.
