Thank you for the heads up! Almost missed the chance to see a hot umpire...ahem...a hotly-contested match.

==================
A great player still can not fight the age, Samsonov has not been doing well lately.
Hope he can win this one.

Samsonov won the Men's Singles.  Outstanding - to win at his age, way passed his prime.

I feel happy for Samsonov. Yet at the same time, I feel sadder for European table tennis. It's just like LGL put it - check out the badminton team, everyone there is hoping for Lin Dan to retire. It's been years since and he is still kicking around. If you don't beat ZJK, will he retire? If you don't beat ML, will he give up his spot?

I don't know one young european with good technique. Boll had bad technique but was very smart and very stable. Boll was the last european worth anything. I never gave a damn about Ovtcharov. He is giving bad example to europeans. He is the least elegant elite player. No footwork no forehand, doesn't even care. Look at Samsonov, Waldner, Person, Schlager, Gatien, JMS, Primorac - they all have better technique than today's players. I don't know what the hell happened. The Chicken Wing FH virus spread all over europe. What makes me wonder is what happened with all these great european players and why aren't they coaching and raising the next generation the same way the chinese are raising theirs.

Not sure where to start with all the misconceptions in this post.
