I'm about to receive Butterfly Tiago Apolonia ZLC purchased with a member here.
I'm wondering what's good with this blade? My thought/choice: Rakza 7 soft BH Bluefire M1 FH Calibra Tour S Stiga Boost TS Stiga LT Currently I'm using Gergely with Hurricane 3 NEO and Rakza X. Because Gergely T5000 is too fast Rakza X does not feel any spin at all while looping. Any suggestion? |

Tiago Apolonia himself uses Tenergy 05 on forehand and Tenergy 80 on backhand , I was wondering if those rubbers are best for this blade ! It might make a heavy setup around 194 to 197 grams ?!

A friend has the blade with a Dignics 05, i tried it and the balance was very good, not too fast yet it didnt lack the speed, very spinny and this works for you and against you as its very sensitive to incoming spin too.. i have a Yasaka Zebarate which is very similar to tha Apolonia and the T 05 on FH, i am yet to test it.. will update when ive played with it. Edit: I didnt see this post was from 2018, apologies. Edited by notea - 12/17/2019 at 8:53am |

most players I know use 05 both sides, even some pros (Daniel Gorak for example).

Always start with the same rubber you are using now. If you want any hope of figuring out what is going on, only change one thing at a time.

I have tested the T 05 and it is very good, its on the faster side to me as i was using a rakza 7 soft before this, so it took me a few games to adjust.. the spin was similar with the T05 a tad spinnier and a lot faster, and the best thing is i dont have to put much effort in opening up a heavy underspin serve or return, lots of control for a medium hard rubber, and with the added speed, my opponents have trouble blocking my drives and top spins, their blocks tend to go far off the table.. i feel that the sponge though medium hard gives a lot of control along with the soft limba layer which helps a lot, i dont feel the lack of power and speed i had when using the R7 soft, blocking is also better as the dwell time is reduced.. throw angle on the R7 soft was pretty high so i had to close my angle a lot when blocking, not so much with the T05.. i have also used the R7 . similar to the T 05 with lesser spin and similar speed. so the R7 or the RX could also be good options.. I would not advise the R7 soft on this blade even for BH, its too slow for the blade, id recommend medium to medium hard rubbers for BH.. ive switched from R7 soft BH to Yasaka Valmo which is a medium hard rubber, but slower than the R7.. but the thing is i am using a SIMILAR blade, not the same...so i dont know, i think you should just try out your usual rubber first and take it from there.
Note: My friend has the apolonia with a dignics 05 and barracuda on BH.. and he plays pretty well with it. |
