There are too many questions that need to be answered:

Floor - wood/concrete/mats?

Body type?  - a 120 lb person would have different requirements than a 240 lb person with regards to shock absorption, support, material, durability

:)

Floor: wood
I have 1.68 m and 72 kg.
I have played with Wave Drive 5 but I want something more better.

I have many TT Mizuno shoes but I would rate thé ones I have like this:

My ranking is based on weight, elasticity, grip on taraflex floor but to be honest all thèse shoes are really good ones. I'am 76kg for 1,75m
1)Wave drive A2

2)Wave drive A3

3)Wave medal 5

4) Wave modal 4

I like the medal 4 more than drive A2 & drive A3 because of the foot heel cup. Don't have modal 4. BTW, Lezoline TB is good, but it is not good on taraflex floor when the floor is wet LOL.

If you are playing on hard floors like I do, you need grip and cushioning.  I use wave bolt 2's, wave bolt 5's and love them.  I don't even slip of the cement floors at the Nationals and Open.  I just got a new pair of wave bolt 6 yesterday and will try them out tonight.  We have a hard floor and the wave bolt users never slip.

I don't like mine.  They have the sides built up but on my right foot the right side wall doesn't hit the correct spot on my foot.

Mizuno Wave Bolt for volleyball... interesting.
I will think about this.

Volleyball shoes are designed for side to side movement with good grip and cushioning.

True, but volleyball involves a lot more and higher jumping, this is why in volleyball shoes there's usually more cushioning than I need for tabletennis.

Squash shoes are a good alternative to dedicated table tennis shoes.

I've been using (the same pair of) handball shoes for many years now. They're a bit heavier than dedicated TT shoes, but they provide cushioning, stability, and grip.

I've got two pairs of Medal 5 , cause I really like the way they look and the weight. I won't sing songs of praise for their grip nor for the cushioning they provide. While practicing with those , I'll keep my Asics Blade 4 for the serious gigs

I just got some Wave Dive 8s in. IMO they are tts, maybe an 1/8th inch long. I'm glad I went tts personally, as I wear my shoes tight and don't like a lot of room in front of the toes. Any smaller would have my toes crashing into the front of the shoe during a match. I think I see why people say the fit big though, the heel is def wide, and I could imagine it causing heel slip for some people, especially those with narrower heels. The insoles it came with were way better than I thought they would be but I still changed them out for superfeet green inserts. Cant comment on anything about performance as I haven't used them to play yet. The soles however, are like DHS H3 sticky. Like walking with suction cups for shoes.
