I wonder why Skyline 3 is not anymore as popular as before?
Many people agree it´s a more user friendly than typical H3, with better control and speed, but i can´t explain why no one keeps using it at international or pro level stage nowadays. As far as a know, the only current versions commertially sold are: -TG3 NEO commertial (irregular crappy quality like a lottery) -NT-50/60 new sponges on softer version which lack of power unless you heavily boost them. Why no any prov or blue sponges as before? Edited by jonyer1980 - 07/17/2017 at 3:10am |

H3 - two grand slam holders.
Skyline 3 - zilch. There you have it. |

I think H3 NEO has better explosion, TG3 NEO it is more control oriented, it is harder to finish the point with it. Now, with the new balls, old rubber with less spin means the past.
H3 neo and T05 even tough are not designed for plastic balls will survive this era because are rubbers with still enough spin, power and control for this moment. T64 has a similar path since manny pro players switch from it to T80. Edited by flash - 07/17/2017 at 4:12am |

The blue sponge versions are still sold, but I haven't seen any provincials. Only nationals. TG2 blue sponge is the one that is not available anymore, it is always out of stock anywhere I look.

If you mean Skyline 3-60 (on the #60 sponge) it certainly does not lack power. Its easily the fastest DHS rubber I've used out of H8, H3 Nat BS, H3 Neo, TG2 Neo, TG3 Neo (except maybe H8 on full swings); and it has plenty of spin and I don't boost. It has a very Euro/Jap/Hybrid feel to it. I've seen a lot of people use it on their backhand. Though I probably wouldn't call it a "pro level" rubber.

Recently, out of curiosity I boosted a red TG3(normal one) and the results were so good that I bought two TG3 Neo, loaded them with Falco long and now waiting for the dome to calm down and see how it plays with the p-ball

The reason is that skyline rubber isn't actually as powerful as hurricane. As in the quality of the shots produced are of less quality than that could be achieved with hurricane.

In my personal experience, boosted H3 > boosted TG3 in basically every way. I think H3 is simply super to the skyline series and professionals clearly feel the same way.

TG3 NEO feels a lot more like an H2 upgrade than an H3 variant.
TG2 NEO feels like H3 NEO with more control

I`m playing tg2 national
and tg3-60 and i`m satisfied .... I don like H3 so much ... Only shame on the tg3-60 is humidity malfunction ... if humidity is high the rubber lose 50% of its power in spin and grab. Shame . Otherways is just perfect .... If someone is writing about how rubber is not sensitive to incoming spin he did not try tg3-60 |

TG2 Neo and S3-60 are my favorite DHS rubbers. I'd love to try a TG2 National. I play more control oriented which is probably why I prefer Skylines to Hurricanes. S3-60 on my BH is basically perfect, as you said, Bobpuls. My flicks are deadlier than ever. FWIW, I could never generate as much spin with H3 Neo as with TG2 Neo or S3-60. H8 on full strokes is another story. That is one spinnnnny, powerful rubber.

If youre not looking for a tacky rubber I'd go for Goldarc Series. For instance GA8 is said to be a very fast top quality rubber& matches the best top ESN rubbers

I tried GA8 briefly on a friend's racket (47.5 degree version), it's sponge and topsheet look almost identical to Fastarc P-1. It plays like it as well.

Are you using the big character version and tuned or untuned? I see three versions on ProTT. The tuned one hasn't been in stock for a while. |

TG2 NEO is higher throw and more versatile TG3 NEO is lower throw and requires you constantly attack with it to make the low, deadly arc pay off (like H2)

I play tuned Tg3 neo on HH3 for the past 3 years. 6 months life tuned 3 times before it becomes permanently domed. I don't have any alternative to kick up 1 more notch yet for its speed. I don't like tuned H3 alternative. But I never tried Tg2 neo though.

I am surprised how susceptive to Falco Long the TG3 sponge is, and I mean the original and my latest NEO. They dome easily and the dome seems to last forever |

This. Humidity and heat malfunction are what kills the dhs tackys. I kept finding myself basically playing with an antispin brick during summer. Its why I switched to 729 battle 2 which doesnt have this problem and is simply better in everything as far as im concerned. It never fails. |

BTW I tried the skyline3-60 soft today and it's a beautiful rubber. I didn't find it soft however. Not at all.. Maybe it needs to be 'broken in' a bit?

Top sheet is pretty hard, the sponge is super soft! I removed it to transfer and tore off a number of chunks with barely any effort...

Slightly off topic but does anyone know what hardness the TG3 Neo sponge is?
I got a sheet but there's no hardness rating like with Hurricane 3 Neo.
|
|||
A version of Hurricane 3
A version of Tenergy A Stiga blade... |

The mid-hard version is 38-40 degrees, while the hard version is 41-43 degrees. I will be reviewing the Skyline series shortly for tabletennis11.com.
