I was a tacky rubber user then switched to Euro for more pace.
I used a sticky rubber again and I just loved the heavier serves, better short game and heavy brush spin. But I don't like boosting any more and most sticky rubber are slow. Is there such a thing as a high tack, fast rubber? |

most of the modern rubbers Chinese are marketed as such.
Tacky + their version of "spring", porous, light sponge. Many people are praising Battle 2

Tacky rubbers are like Thor's hammer. You're either "worthy" - i.e. have what it takes to play with them/willing to invest into learning to play with them - or not.
All this searching for an elusive tacky rubber that is "fast" like a non-tacky rubber is pointless.

I think most of the China tt companies reduced their sticky rubbers stickiness because of the 40+ balls. May be try the H3 turbo (DHS H3 + nittaku high elasticity sponge )

For me, tacky rubbers must be boosted. I´ve had a H2 Neo which was absolutely nothing without booster. Actually it was impossible to play an offensive game with it. Then I decided to put 3 layers of thin booster and it became another rubber, much more elastic, softer and faster.
A boosted H3N or H2N behaves totally different when compared to a soft sponged tacky rubber, such as H3-50 soft. This one is crap, not good to attack nor to control.

If you would just hit the weight room and bulk up a little you would not need a faster rubber. Just remember how that 64 yr old 150lb weakling mjamja hit balls past people with his unboosted tacky Big Dipper. I am finally back in Tx. Maybe we will run into each other again. Hope you and your game are doing well. PS - If you have never met El Luchador, bulking up is not something he needs to worry about. Mark Edited by mjamja - 11/16/2018 at 5:22pm |

Most Euro/Japanese rubbers marketed as 'tacky' are not really sticky, they're just really grippy. Then there's rubbers like Thor's, which is indeed sticky, but the sponge is really hard, which is needed to get the speed. The new Joola Golden Tango PS is actually quite sticky (at least the black one that I tried), and although the sponge is marked as firm, it feels more medium to me (the original Golden Tango was harder). |

Palio HK1997 Gold is the fastest Chinese rubber I know. It is supposed to be a slightly softer version of Thor's, made in China. I like it on softish, slower, controlled blades.

Yes. Plus that hang effect they create (in a good hand) takes a long time for the opposition to get used to.
