Hi guys,
I'm wanting to get a 5ply wood blade that is not as expensive (such as the acoustic) and plays well. Any suggestions or comparisions of the above would be great! Cheers

You cant go wrong with korbel!
It is simply one of the best 5ply blades out there... I would not even consider the other 2. Just get Korbel. Find one that is 86-92 grams (these seem to play best). 88gram would be perfect based on my experience with korbel.

They are all good 5 ply blades. In terms of speed Latika is the slowest followed by Korbel with the Tibhar being fastest. I personally prefer the Korbel as it's a great do all blade with more than enough speed . Many USATT player over 2000 use Korbel so it's not going to hold you back.

I tried once the ITC Challenge Force and it's really good, on par with the blades mentioned here. Its price gives bang for the buck.

First time seeing Latika as the slowest. Usually everyone rates it as faster than Korbel, and more OFF than OFF-

I felt Latika was just slightly faster than Acoustic but a little slower than Korbel. There is probabaly more variance with wood blades so they may over lap depending on what you get..

Korbel is quite allround offensive blade. I had few in past, now have 92 gr made in japan. It has some flex which means more catapult when hit strong. Flex also means slight unlinearity when returning short balls. New plastic ball requires harder rubeers, which are usualy heavier which can produce head hqaviness and total heaviness with already heavy korbel. For example my is 196-197 grams with tibhar aurus max and xiom vega pro 2.0, both rubbers are more than 10 years old technology. But it plays good. I test at the moment some lighter composite blade.
Tried acoustic and powerwood in past, acoustic too wild, stiff, powerwood also stiffer and faster than korbel. Good cheap blade is yinhe mc2, I played with it very successfully, but they can vary a lot in characteristics.

What bothers me about these three blades are their handles. I didn't like Korbel FL and Latika FL because they were too thin for me, while Stratus Powerwood ST was way too thick. However, any of these three you mentioned will play well if you play well.

If you want the same composition (limba - limba - ayous - limba - limba) as Korbel and SPW, then another good blade (and cheaper also) is XIOM Offensive S. Thickness is in between Korbel and SPW (around 6.1 mm). Head size is 157 x 150 (a bit smaller than Korbel and SPW) Handle is nice, bigger than Korbel but not as thick as SPW. EDIT: If you want nicer handle, then Adidas (now ITC) Challenge Force is another Korbel alternative. Compared to Korbel, SPW and Xiom Offensive S, ITC Challenge Force has better handle. Really comfy. ITC Challenge Force is around 6 mm in thickness with head size 157x150 mm, but speed-wise, it is a bit slower than Korbel. In between Korbel and Primorac, I would say.
