Vladi talks about how in the 90's player would have 1 blade (speedglue made the rubbers a good fit).

But with plastic ball, Vladi says he has 4 blades that he can switch between...

Have other folks noticed that some of their blades which were too fast during celluloid era are now more useful/better?

I remember with the spin on celluloid 40mm balls that the clipper, and even the wiry kick of the Avalox P500 was too fast for me to attack consistently.

Now, the Clipper feels slow and controlled, and the P500 feels like a very good balance of power to feel and control. Even carbon blades like the Timo Boll ALC seem like "control blades" with the ABS balls.

Did anyone else notice notice this effect?

Is it possible that you got better since the end of the celluloid era?

Yes, ABS plastic balls require you to use faster and possibly spinnier equipment.  I couldn't use blades as fast as the Boll ALC before and I use them (Hadraw VR, Carbonado 190) now.
I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

Rather than the ABS ball, players have been moving EJing blades ever since the glue ban in late 2008.

Water based glue destroys blade much faster than old VOC glue.

yup..i find an older setup Xiom Stradius Strato (now discontinued) with Xiom China both sides is a very good fit for the newest balls.

I don't disagree that the ban caused EJing.

But you miss my point:

A bunch of blades were wayyyy too fast to use without speedglued rubber (because speedglue added spin and control) ..

Yet many of those same blades now seem to play more controlled with the ABS balls.

One thing about the newer gen ABS ball is that it is SO DMAN EASIER to hit through spinny balls... whether you are re-looping it or crushing it or punching it.

That might make it feel like previous bat is now better... since you are encouraged by good feeling and better results to play more aggressive... which is usually better when you land the ball.

Do you mean all non-cell balls?  No, not all plastic are abs.

If you mean all new types going forward, good question.
