It was not all that common for hard Euro / Jap rubbers before. Currently there are alot of them available. I have read about how hard rubbers should work in combination with stiff and or hard blades and have some experience with these combinations. My experience started with a Rasant Powergrip in combination with a Donic Crest Off on the FH - sometimes balls fall straight into the net on loops. I changed the rubber to a Fang Bo 2 and the combo was wonderful. Any comments on whether flex or softer top ply have more effect on combination with hard rubber?

Believe it or not pros we're using hard rubbers way before it was commerically released. From Chinese to esn and jap runbers. If you use it on a hard blade or stiff meaning little flex you should stick to all out smashed and kill shots. It'll be hard to play an all around controlled looping style. If you're going after power then that's ideal, but for me I use medium hard/slight flex alc blade vs a hard one with koto or zlc. I prefer that as it gives me more than enough pace and I can still punch block/shots and disrupt my opponent. I prefer softer top ply as the ball rebound allows it to penetrate deeper into the sponge thus creating more feeling.

I used the harder rubbers for my backhand. I have a unique bang impact and punch incorporated style shots and blocking. I punch down either line and win points by doing so. It's not the same but if I were to twiddle I could use it on forehand no problem. Just less spin and slightly more catapult from the rubber. Nexy Batos Alc Mxk Mxk hard
