Don't kow but have you seen he took time off from the bar to play ma long this year :P. You can see that if he was a little lighter and faster he had the game he needed to win

I think he could beat all the Chinese team, maybe not every time but he would be messing with the top 3 that's for sure. In his time the Swedish team were number 1 in the world, no reason that same team if all young again now wouldn't be the same. Those were good times for Sweden |

Even with the 40mm ball?
It seems like the Chinese coaching/training infrastructure adapted to the 40mm ball the fastest. |

You're right there is definatly an advantage to the power players with the 40mm ball but I think the removal of speed glue has brang that advantage back a little. I Still think the easiest way to improve the game to a more level playing field for everyone involved is to put the ball back to the proper size (38mm) combined with no glue we would have a very good game, just like it was in the 70s. I've allways been heavily loop dependant but at least before the 40mm ball you had an option, now you either play like that or you aren't likely to get very far (Waldner is a great looper anyway but he has much more going on than that)
http://www.usatt.org/magazine/99nov-dec/40mmballs.html ^^^^^^^^^^^ Some thoughts on the 40mm ball when it was introduced (something most people who were playing at the time agree with) |

I do not think waldner of then would hang with top chinese of now. He admittadely said that WLQ was a better player than he ever was, didn't he?

Not sure if they did, but they were the ones who started to practice with it first. In fact, they used it for practice a year before it was introduced to the international level. Guess they knew something that the rest of the world didn't. Seeing how both Samsonov and Jrgen still can mess with the best, and none of them are at their prime, I guess JO in his prime would be able to be number one if he was 20 years younger. |
