Has anyone had luck with any of the custom bats from zeropong.com?

I'm looking to get a new paddle and am a mediocre player who uses spin and more defense than offense to play. Any recommendations to a $50-ish setup?  Which rubbers to use, etc.

I was looking at the carbon blades, but wasn't sure how much of a difference they make. I was also looking at the 729 Cream Transcend and GeoSpin Tacky with Power Sponge for my play style, any tips? I think the pips-in would serve me best, but not sure.

Sorry so many questions.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Would you recommend smaller size foam for both? I know that it can affect control.

if you say u play more defense then get the toxic blades. what you have in mind is not bad, Cream and geospin tacky. But I would prefer 2.2 .

My suggestion would be to get the Black whirlwind, LKT Will Power Arylate Carbon or the Hinoki Ayous blade.  I know it's not a popular choice but I liked them.  Most of the 729 blades are hard and these have some decent control and feel comparatively.

And you can compromise on the size of the sponge.  2.2 on FH and 2.0 on BH so accomodate your style of play.  But I would suggest 2.2 on both sides instead.

For the rubbers Cream MRS on both sides or you can go faster on FH with Cream Transcend or 729 FX.  It has a similar topsheet as far as tackiness/grip but faster sponge.

Thanks for all the input and help.  I've spoken to cole_ely and I think I'm going to go with an Instinct+ blade with 999t rubber on the fh and palio rubber on the bh.  I'm excited, thanks again!

Hinoki Ayous. not too slow not too fast.

get 2.2 btw, get use to max sponge. its the only way to go. you might find it hard to mange at first but youll live.

Im not a fan of the chinese sponges but the LKT's, FX EL, geospin are all good choices if youre asking me.
