Shouldnt you put it the other way, ie open it up for FH looping of backspin, and close it the other way for BH looping?

I have seen people change grips before, but usually the other way round lol.

I personally dont change grips, except when serving, which doesnt really count as a "real" grip change I guess, since everyone does it on FH serves.

Well...for me its easier to loop a heavy chop with a closed position...its a lot easier believe me!! and thats what I have seen on a lot of videos, when the chop is not that heavy I can loop it or atack with the open position, well thats work for me!...thanx for the comments anyway!!...cheers from Mxico!!

even some penholders have the habit to change grips slightly.

i think i understand where he is coming from.

If its lite backspin, he opens the face, and loops forwards more...

If its heavy, he closes it a bit, but loops upwards more. ???

maybe?

yea and you also change how tightly and loose you hold the racquet depending on what kind of ball you're getting.
