Dear TT friends,
I have a new job in Ennis, TX 75119. I tried very hard but can not find any TT friend close there. Any help? Thank you very much! G Edited by gweipwu - 06/18/2021 at 8:47pm |

You may need to go to some of the Dallas area clubs to make contact with some people who live a bit closer to where you live. It will be a bit of a drive to Plano, but doable. Good luck. The area has a lot of people. You should succeed.

I would strongly suggest not to show your email address here. If someone can help, I think he/she will send private message to you

Thank you very much Baal! At least you gave a great spiritual support!
I called DFW (Dallas, Fort Worth)TT(http://www.dfwtt.com/), and found that the closest TT club is 45miles away to my job site(Ennis, TX). So I have no hope to go to these clubs everyday, but I have a plan: Buy a 4000sqf house in the middle of the the TT club and Ennis. And buy two ping pong tables in the house. First month I go to club and find friends there. After I find some friends I can play TT in house But now is how I can get this house purchase done? Any ideas will be appreciated!

I wish I could help you, but I live in Houston and really don't know the Dallas area very well. Some people at my old club in Houston would drive there from the Woodlands, which was about 35 miles. I think your plan is a good one. There are quite a few good players in Dallas., especially around Plano.

Sufesh definitely knows Dallas a lot better than I do, and also I agree that it's not a great idea to buy a house until you get to know an area better. Renting a place in Houston before I bought a house kept me from making a big mistake, like buying a house in areas prone to flooding during our frequent hurricanes. The neighborhood where our biggest club is located is actually in one of the most interesting parts of Houston. It does require reasonable common sense because it does have a higher crime rate than some other areas. It is an area where rents are a bit more manageable for clubs. It is an area filled with great Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants But the WTTC will OBVIOUSLY not be held in a club. It will be held downtown in a very large convention center near to where all Houston professional baseball and basketball games are played. It is about 30 km from the main club. That area is as safe as any large urban area is in the US. (Make of that what you will).

BTW the Plano table tennis scene is pretty much back to "normal" after the pandemic. All rec centers open. See link for play times. Address & Hours | PLANO TABLE TENNIS CLUB (planottc.com)
