The TT shop is in the old Haidian Plaza above a pharmacy store. It is only about 20 minutes walk from the camp. It wasn't huge but a decent sized store that carries badminton, tennis and some swimmin equipment as well as TT. The TT section was that wall and some shelves behind there.

There is another store as well in the Wang Fu Jing shopping street in downtown Beijing at Li Sheng Sports Building in the basement.

hehe, well... plane tickets were about $1200 (round trip) and camp two sessions was $1000 total. I wish I could have stayed for a 3rd session for sure but had to get back to work.

There were a few, a fellow named Lewis and another camper from England had arrived when I was about to leave. Many campers were also from other provinces in China so weren't local to Beijing as well.

There were more good players at the camp... very many... but aside from the pros or ex-pros, there are a handful of university players that stand out exceptionally. They could be pro in any other country I would think.

The women's Peking U. team coach and the ex-national (he also coached a bunch of North American players in the day) spoke very good english and personally trained with us a few times. There was a professional and a high school TT coach who drilled and trained with us constantly but their English was minimal.

I had some formal training with an ex-national chinese player Wei Wang before going so I had an idea of what to expect in form and technique, but I got it nailed at the training camp. It really made a huge difference to be able to just focus on TT for 20 days instead of once or twice a week. I went in with an open mind and to learn and ended up training hard to play the Chinese style.

He was beaten by the girl in green 3 games to 1, keep in mind, Liu Guoliang doesn't train anymore and coaches full time now. He still looked very good but didn't seem as quick and responsive as he did during his prime time in the pros. Sun Jin also beat her opponent (another ex-pro men's TT player) in 3 games to none.

You right, I played in Eight-One club a few time with the junior there and they all beat me. There are so many good players for you to train in china. Last time I was there 2 x 12year old beat me. I was disappointed. Maybe I can hang up my bat.  Hey phrixion I saw you have some pictures of the super chinese leauge. How was it?? I am went to 3 game with Eight-One Club and I swear I the atmosphere from them games are very different to Australia TT (I can from Aust.) The supportors were going crazy every points, It was loud. People were running after the players for signatures, so they had to bring in the security to escort them out. The atmosphere made the games better, and made me re-enjoy watching ping pong again.

I like it very much... it is exactly what I was looking for. I hope I can retain and repeat much of the training now that I'm back home to maintain.

The Superleague matches were fun and the atmosphere at the matches were fun too. People and large groups of people yell for their team or favorite players. Usually a large group of people from the sponsor company of the home team will show up all wearing the same shirts and chanting all game. When the points got good, the whole crowd would cheer in appreciation for the hard fought point. Girls seemed to go googly-eyed at Wang Liqin and start yelling things to him that made people move away from them. And the crowds outside after the matches was a mob scene. Ma Long came out with his team and stood for just a brief moment with their sponsors for pictures then left quickly as possible. Before they got mobbed. Kids were trying to get autographs, fans were chasing them, etc... we didn't stick around for the army team with Wang Liqin to come out but I'm sure it was just as crazy. The teams left in really fancy police jeep cherokees. It was a great time.

I'm sure you would have recieved great chopping instructions here. A national player Ding Ying, trained at the camp everyday and she is a defender/chopper, a very good one. Also there were about 3 other players who incorporated chopping/defending quite a bit into they games... some attack more than others but all were good choppers. I tried to practice a little chopping one day and recieved some tips from her with help with translation from a coach.
