Subject: [haggisv] Best of Brand series - JUIC
Date Posted: 08/31/2008 at 11:53pm

As the previous threads on the "best of brand series" seemed quite succesful, I'll continue onto the next brand: JUIC.

What we're after here is opinions on what are the best rubbers/blades from this particular brand. It would be great to get as many opinions as possible about which you think are notable/special products from the particular brand, and a brief reason why. It's not about finding out which is THE most popular, but about finding a range of rubbers/blades from that manufacturer which are good and stand out a little.
This can be useful and interesting for anyone to find out a little about a brand, and can be particularly helpful to those that only have access to one or 2 brands, or have a personal preference to a particular brand.

I will also run it at the other major forums, and after a week or 2 I'll compile the list and summarise the comments. Then we can start on the next brand.

Brand of this thread: JUIC

[Brands covered already: Butterfly, Joola, Yasaka]

Cheers!

The only thing I have from Juic right now is a sheet of Juic Driva Smash Ultima and it's pretty faultless as a non tacky rubber. I don't normaly use or like non tacky rubbers but it would surely have to be one of the best around

Blade: Kiso Hinoki
Rubbers: Couga, Nanocannon, Driva smash, 999 Elite Nano, 999 Elite, Spinspiel SV, Kaizaa Supersoft, Neoanti.

All of the above is high quality products. Only doubts goes for the 999 Elite Nano since it seems fragile around the edges, others then that, all of the listed seems to have very high durability.

Blades: Juic Nebula a very good blade for hitters and blockers. Kalinic All a very nice allround blade.

I had a feeling this brand would go a little slow, as JUIC is not that well known or distributed. Here is my take on the JUIC range:

Couga is probably their most famous rubber. It's their fastest followed by the Nanocannon and Varites. The JUIC 999 series, particularly on their Ultima sponges are their best controlled offensive rubbers, with the Elite-Nano their latest and faster addition. For defensive style they have the unique Neo Anti and also Leggy which is a slow but grippy choppers long pimple (my current rubber of choice).

JUIC have the largest variety of Balsa blades, their Air Series. They are mostly fast, lightweight and of good quality. Their Air Texa and Air Large (formally named Air Carbon) are probably their most famous, but combined with the others they cover a wider range of requirement. Then there's the 1-ply Kiso hinoki, a good quality blade and not many offer a blade like this blade in shakehand. They also have the Shot Series which offer some woods not used by other manufacturers.

declaration: This is my personal opinion, but I want to mention that I have ties to a shop that sells this stuff, please make up your own mind on how unbiassed my description is. Unhappy

Only 2 players in history have used JUIC. That Scandinavian guy (sorry I forget his name) and Seiko Iseki (Wei QingGuang) Seiko Iseki uses the Juic Texalum, with Juic 999, and Juic Nano Cannon.

you mean Zoran Kalinic but he's not scandinavian. Penhold player and a doubles specialist. He is from Yugoslavia.

ooh oops you mean Stellan Bengtsson. He is also sponsored by Juic. But he used Stiga/Yasaka equipment when he was still playing.

Sorry^ I forgot where he was from. But Seiko was Juic's best, and has been using it since the 80's.

JUIC? Hey, time out! I don't really play shakehand style, however I've tried in the past and the BEST shakehand blade I had was a Juic blade: Kiso-Hinoki Shake.
I got it for a very reasonable price ($53), too bad Juic increased its price near 100% this year. But the blade is great, 8.5mm and 88g. Superb confortable handle (ST) and a catapult effect I've never had in any other blade.

That's still 2 more players than I was aware off, cheers!LOL

Yes, it all comes down to their advertising and sponsorship budget, which appears to be quite low, at least it seems that way outside Japan... They may be focussing more on their local market...

Hey, I've been hearing about this Juic Texalium All+.  I heard that Stellan is using it right now.  I heard that it's a blade with excellent control and you can pair it with different rubbers to play any styles you prefer, given the correct rubbers to match with that style.

But I guess with the Texalium stuff, it must be pretty stiff, am I right?

I am not familiar with Juic, but few people I know are using the 999 Elite Ultima and Couga.

yes it's quite stiff.

Yes the texalium would make the blade a little stiffer, but it enlarges the sweetspot and gives it a little more oomph...

I've tried if briefly, and thought it was a very nice blade. Soft feel, fairly slow in the short game, but good power when you start looping. Does not suit me personally with my LPs on the BH...

The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to JUIC are there balsa blades, I have tried there Texa and air carbon, both nice blades.

Also tried the Kiso Hinoki and really enjoyed it's feeling and speed.

as for rubbers I suppose the neo anti is one of the best anti spn rubbers around.

Haggisv, can you give a brief comparison between 999 Elite Ultima SV and 999 Elite Nano?

I'm afraid I have not tried the 999 Elite Ultima SV so I can't compare.

Any more comments on JUIC rubbers and blades before I summarise? I think a lot of people have not tried JUIC stuff, so there's not as much feedback...

PS Any suggestions on what brand shall I do next?

Cheers!

What a blade. It is stated, like it is: Hitting and driving is at best. Very nice handle. I am straight handle user but this only comes in flared and what a feeling. Loops are nice but it is not my strong hit so I cant say more on that. Blocks are just perfect. Very nice blade to have ...

Juic Nebula all the way ...
