TSP Dynam 10.5mm (converted to RJPB)
FH Rubber: Dawei Inspirit Red Max 40deg (lamp oil tuned)
BH Rubber: Dawei 2008XP Black 2.2 (lamp oil tuned)
The setup is a bit chunky because its a 10.5mm blade with rubbers on
both sides. However it is not very heavy. I have sealed the blade, so
the 1st gear is fast and has less feeling. My short game often suffers
because of that. However on the 2nd gear that's where the awesome Kiso
Hinoki feeling comes alive and produces low loop arc. This setup I would rate
average for smashing and blocking.
Here are the pictures.

Kokutaku ID100 dressed in FH Tenergy and BH Bryce FX Powersponge. What can I say about this setup? It is a powerful monster. FH smashes with this blade make such a loud cracking sound that everybody snaps to attention and marvel without fail. The opponent on the other side of the table just jumped and don't even know where the ball has gone BH rpb loop if successful always caught my opponent by surprise as the ball would fly past them so fast in a very low arc
I have other setups but they are going through different dresses at the moment so no point me mentioning them
Cheers.

Darker J-Speed90 Reverse. both sides with Darker Provine Tension 50. i changed this setup to a v-grip. theres very litte vibration, but lots of feedback. i feel the ball has a lot of dwell time in the blade. i have a problem with opening loops to deep fast underspin but that just might be me. my shortgame suffers but again.. it might just be me. but my loops are very quick.. not necessarily powerful though. kind of on the heavy side.

Kokutaku Weizhou 3008 a little over 9mm, Shakehand.
FH: H3P 39 before/41 now.
BH: Tokyo 2 before/H3P39 now.
Tokyo 2 played great but I decided to take on the extra spin provided
by the H3P and because the boosted speed provided by the 1 ply enabled
me to use the H3P on the BH.
On flat hit, the H3P drops much faster than Tokyo 2 so I have to open
up slightly more than usual or hit harder to compensate. Loops are
fabulous.
Weight and thickness doesn't bother me. The thing that bothers me is the thickness of the handle, that's it.

I think Senkoh Max is single ply hinoki. To me it looks thicker in appearance compared to J-pen of the same thickness. I am curious to read a review, as it should be very thick with rubbers on both sides of the blade. I already find my J-pen 10 mm as too bulky, even with only one rubber. Theman, what is the weight of your blade without rubber ?

Blade: Darker Speed90 FL
FH: Dawei Inspirit Quattro 2.0 39 degree
BH: BTY Sriver 2.1
Quattro plays nice on the Speed90 FH-side but the blade really shines through Tenergy05. Sriver is just an all round rubber.

Darker speed 90 with hyperglued Sriver (just as god wanted it ahahahha).
Geko rockets reaches its upper limit. Anything I hit at full speed has never been returned with it. Feeling is excellent. However unless you're prepared to take the 'giant wielding a doubled handed battle axe', I'd suggest staying away from this heavy beast.
Without glue the blade works well with Tenergy, however it seems to be more sensitive to incoming spin with it though.

After waiting for about 6 to 7 weeks since ordering this beautiful piece of equipment and crying tears of blood everytime the AUD dropped in value, I eventually received delivery of it, making me $195.00 poorer for the priviledge of ownership, having previously tried fattchoi's weapon with Tenergy 05 on the forehand, I had a choice of equipment problem, after a lot of thought Re: availability, cost and suitability of different rubbers, I decided to rely on a pair of rubbers I had tried previously, Donic J O Gold, 2.5mm (max) Black on the Forehand and Tibhar Super Defense 40, 1.6mm Soft Red on the Backhand, at this point I can't honestly tell you how my selection works, as I have only picked it up today and will have to wait till tomorrow, when I visit one of my T.T. clubs, at Maroubra Public School, I'm hoping by using the proper technique and improving my fitness, I'll do justice for the blade and rubbers that I have chosen, any advice from the
members will be very much appreciated, by the way the Darker's weight was a very reasonable 88 grams, allowing the all up playing weight to be at around 177 grams.... more later, after some practice and games.....

I switch between following two setups. 1. Darker Speed 90 Jpen, 10mm, 89grams. Sinus Max(forehand), no RPB.
2. Nittaku Cho tokusen Jpen, 9mm, 82grams Energy Extra(forehand), no RPB.
Setup 1 is optimal for mid distance play and short game is adequate too, Sinus is great for brush looping and close to table looping but enough power from mid distance.
Setup 2 suffers in generating power from mid distance, but great for close to table and control is great.

Butterfly Cypress Alpha. Jpen.
Sriver 1.9
Blade is fast & has a really nice touch. But probably a little too fast for my level:( Am thinking of downgrading to a blade more at my level for a while. My previous blade was a Juic Kalinic (Cpen), with the same rubber.
Any suggestions folks? Wanna stick to JPen with rubber on one side only.

radu, is your blade really called WR-9, or did you just copy that from my post?
My blade is named WR-9 because it is made of [W]estern [R]ed Cedar, and its thickness is above 9 mm (it is actually 9.5 mm), therefore it's name is WR-9.
If you want to give your blade a similar name then, if it is, for instance, made of a European Spruce, call it ES-8, since it is 8.3 mm thick.
Just a little piece of advice...

I am trying, man! I made a post saying that I was looking for a Darker Speed 90, SH, FL around 87 g plus-minus 3 g... hoping that someone would have one they don't use. I even offered my old love, Xiom Stradivarius, as a possible trade (with cash added, of course). So far, no real offers... c'est la vie.
If nothing pans out, I can get one from IruIru, I guess, if they have one in my weight range. But I will wait a bit so when it comes, it's going to be a Christmas present.

for every kind of play. I became bavarian champion with it in mens
double. One thing could be better to be up to date: the handle
dimensions. The handle is very flat and, but the more you play with it
you get used to it in a way. Nowadays I would put on a other handle but with the
same material ( walnut wood dark brown ). I would give the handle more
thickness but on the other hand less wideness.

Hi, All are very beautiful blades bur I am very impressed with the Darker blades. Darker seems to be able to cut their wood in such a manner that their blades have a higher level of beauty; esp the eyes on the side. They show quite high degree of symmetry for both eyes; slightly elongated oval, very alluring. When I bought my S 90 Jpen, I thought I had such a pretty blade that I decided not to play with it. But what beautiful eyes I see on the Darker Jpen posted by Jpenmaster. Bold dark tight lines, even for both eyes we can observe that the lines are still very close together, beautiful. I wonder if this is a custom order. And I see there are three Darker boxes.

Hello single ply hinoki club. I have a question for you all. My friend has a Butterfly Senkoh FT-S singlet ply hinoki jpen but I can't find any stats on it. Ttdb has no reviews or stats other than weight: http://www.tabletennisdb.com/blade/butterfly-senkoh-ft-s.html
Does anyone have any info on this blade (e.g., speed rating, control rating, etc.) or what other blades it might be similar to? Thanks!

Actually the carbon fiber protection came with the blade, i really don't know how to apply that on the wood, its charlie's trade secret!

I have a few of Charlie's single ply blades. I have pictures of two of them at the link below. One does not have the tape on the edges. I hope the pictures are satisfactory, I am no good when it comes to photography.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6vzFpelmLsbRGUyUFhIeXhkUDQ
None of these blades came with the carbon edge tape. You may notice that the light coloured blade has a crack. I broke it once, and sent it to Charlie for fixing; he added the edge tape in the process. I protect my blades with a layer of shock absorbing rubber- it adds a lot of weight, but it makes sure the blade never gets even a small dent on the edge. I have a third one of these blades, but it is in use and has that custom edge tape on it that I don't really want to remove; it's a hassle to put back on. I have two of those dark coloured ones, and I think they are both centre cuts. I can't tell if the light one is from the centre or not.

an update here
Yesterday I played for the first time with a single ply hinoki blade, a Kokutaku D-50 (previously I was using Galaxy 985).
I was very curious to know how it would be, because hinoki wood is so praised by some people that it seems to have some "mystic" aura on it haha
I will write some simpressions about the blade compraing with 985. It's important to say that I'm a beginner, so I don't have a very stable mechanics nor much feel for the ball and etc. It is just a beginner's point of view, so be aware that can be very imprecise / wrong....
Previous setup: Galaxy 985, 91g, about 8mm thickness, with Rasant Grip rubber Current setup: Kokutaku No.1 D-50, 83g, 9 mm thickness, with Rasant Grip rubber
The first thing I noticed is how much different is the sound produced between the two. 985 has always a "TÁK" sound, and D-50 is more like "TÓF". It only "TÁKs" on faster strokes.
I don't know if I was influenced by the sound, but I felt that D-50 was much softer than 985. D-50 seemed to have more dwell time. When I played with 985, it seemed that I was playing with an iron blade haha. But I don't know if I actually produced more spin with D-50.
About speed, I got the impression that 985 is faster than D-50. On another hand, D-50 looks to have more gears - it seems to be slower on slow strokes, but produces good speed com faster strokes. 985 appears to be fast all the time.
Since I'm not capable of doing a more detailed review, I will stop here, that's the only thing I can write =( But I hope it can be of some help (even if it's little) for other beginners that are curious to see how a hinoki blade is compared to a "regular" blade.

My official petition to the club:
http://imgur.com/a/OIN6j" rel="nofollow - High Resolution Photos I play both Jpen and Shakehand, apparently equally well. H8s are on the SOU for now but TG2 Neos are on the way for a bit lighter setup. The SOU is stiffer than the Miyabi I guess due to the shape of the head, but it still doesn't make sense to me why that is.
I cannot get enough of the feel of both blades. It makes playing very enjoyable. Lovely Hinoki!

This is a customized 1 ply that I ordered from Kevin (American Hinoki, or AHinoki as he is known here). I asked him to make an asymmetrical blade shape near the handle because I want to do RBP with a Jpen (please note that I'm left handed). With a normal shape Jpen RBP is very unconfortable because you can't angle the blade very much since the index finger blocks it.
I also asked him to make a very light blade, under 70g. And he did it at 64g!! Super light for a 1 ply!! Due to low weight, he rated this blade as ALL (wich is perfect for me since I'm a beginner)
Unfortunately I can't test it because my rubbers haven't arrived yet, it will probably take some weeks .
This was my first customized blade and I'm very happy with the result (tough haven't played yet). I recommend Kevin!

Very nice, shinshiro. This looks a lot like the first Jpen I had (Yinhe 989) where I sanded the index finger shoulder really deep like this. Very nice for RPB and so comfortable. I think I like 9mm the best as you can tell from the two Miyabis in my signature, and I've been considering contacting Kevin to talk about designs.
Do a lot of people question you about doing RPB on a 9mm Jpen blade? I get it all the time as if its physically impossible. I just have to show them the power after their doubting.

I think just a few of them noticed that I was with a backhand rubber (I started using this blade only last week because I was waiting for the rubbers to arrive).
My training partner said that I was getting used quite quick with RBP (I have never done this before), but I told him some weeks before that I was planing on trying this, so he was not surprised.
But I'm almost sure that when I get to play with more experienced people, they will get a little suprised with Jpen RPB
Here is a new pic of my blade, now with rubbers, but I want to show the edges of the blade. I have put some layers of epoxy resin to protect the wood (suggested by Kevin from American Hinoki), since I've heard that Hinoki is very fragile and I don't want to split it in half if I hit the table....
http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/shinshiro/media/Table%20Tennis/American%20Hinoki/WP_20170327_16_00_46_Pro_zpsrywoxysh.jpg.html" rel="nofollow">
I think the result is prety nice since I had no experience working with any kind of resin before. Of course there are some defects (I could not make the resin to be 100% uniform, as you can see some salience near "WRC" for example), but for my total amateur skills I'm very satisfied with the result

Only an update here:
The worst nightmare for a 1 ply hinoki user has hapenned to me... Yes...I split my blade in two...and only on my 3th training...
Between one exercise and another, I accidentally dropped my blade from a little above the table level, and it split. Even with rubbers on both sides and expoy on edges, it has split...
http://s1083.photobucket.com/user/shinshiro/media/Table%20Tennis/American%20Hinoki/WP_20170331_12_02_25_Pro_zpsse3rkre3.jpg.html" rel="nofollow"> (I put some force into the blade to show where it split. Without force, the split is discrete)
If there is someone who already had the same experience, I'm open to suggestions to how to repair it. I also e-mailed Kevin to see if he can give me some advices.
Sorry to detour a little from the thread...

You can use a thin layer of epoxy to put it back together- make sure you use something like a vise to hold it in place and with constant pressure. If excess epoxy comes out of the crack, you can gently sand it off. You also have to make sure to keep the larger splinters that may come off to preserve the continuity and evenness of the blade. To prevent future splits, you can put edge tape on your paddle and then some foam mounting tape on that. This only adds 1-3 grams. I have even seen people use RTV silicone, although this is heavier. I personally use the foam mounting tape method, and add an eighth-inch thick layer of industrial shock absorbing rubber on top. It's pretty much bulletproof, but very heavy.
