I've seen a couple of videos of some of you guys playing, which I really enjoy because it gives me a much better sense of "who" you are when you're posting, and "who" you are when you're doling out equipment advise.

There are so many folks here I would simply love to see play, but I don't know if any videos of you have ever been posted. If not, post one of yourself playing in this thread. I think it would be really nice and helpful for people to have a place (this thread) where they can go check out who's talking in the various threads.

Personally I'm out with a shoulder injury at the moment, but when I'm better again I'll make sure to upload a video here of myself playing.

I'll attempt to "collect" whatever videos of members here I can find - please let me know if you are aware of others (or simply post it/them in this thread).

Also, if people post multiple videos over time, it's fun to see people's progression.

I try to compare how they play with their respective ratings.   If I am not wrong, Icontek said that he is around 1300.  What's Speedy rating?

Just to weigh in here - icontek is in a remote area where regular (rated) tournaments are hard to come by, 1300 USATT is far below his game in that video.

That was good play against Chip Coulter. Was Randy Seemiller there and did you play him? There is a chopper from PGH as well, Asaf, who beat Samson Dubina at the mill creek open.

I think Boz's video is between him and Ed.  Ed is doing well playing Boz considering he doesn't have the experience that Boz has.   I still like the videos of Boz and Fruitloop better.

I finally figured it out.

lildudejds,  you only need that part of the URL after the youtu.be/ between the TUBE and /TUBE tags.

#TUBE#XPcTMjxf0xQ#/TUBE#
#TUBE#7ybDWqKejag#/TUBE#

Replace the # with left and right brackets.
This has been bugging me for a long time.

I play a bit, no more than once a week at a club. I'm a 5th year senior at Eastern Kentucky studying professional golf management, so that takes up most of my time. No injuries currently(knock on wood). Youll see me post a lot during the winter when I can't play golf and the table tennis bug bites me again :)

Awesome thanks for getting those to embed and work properly. For some reason I can't load them on my ipad, only my computer....hmmm.

As far as the videos, the first one was the most recent one, but I was coming off a knee injury and not moving very well. I won a lot of points by must blocking.

I was much more mobile and in shape in the second video, but the quality of my opponents wasn't quite as high so it makes me look better than I am when I can just loop everything that comes to my forehand. My forehand was pretty strong then, very consistent. Now, I have really evened out, and developed a much better backhand. The biggest thing I lacked back in those videos was power. I'm not a big guy, 5'6''. But since last year I've been doing a lot of bodybuilding and put on a bit of muscle so I am able to hit the ball harder than I used to, but I'm still by no means very powerful haha. The main thing keeping me from that 2100 level or so is my serve and serve return. They are fairly poor, but when I don't really get to train at all, I understand it. I used to train with a coach 3 days a week, now I get no training and just play at a club here in Kentucky every once in awhile.

I'll be in the table tennis scene more come winter time! I still love the sport and will never give it up for good. I sure do miss competing.

Vs my C-Pen defensive clubmate who plays only on weekends, a div 3 player who retrieves your shots over and over, entices you to go for more power, then you miss and wonder why! I play vs him well and do not lose a lot of games vs him. Usually a BH heavy opener deep is enough to get the right ball to blast. You try to get too cute with your shots and he opens a can of whoop-em on you, goes on the offensive, hits a winner and declares "By-Ya!"

Oh, our club is LOUD and pretty much cramped with let situations that you don't call ever few seconds. It gets on your nerves sometimes, but I wouldn't trade here for what I didn't have in the States before I got here.

I would say play the highest event of day 1 (U1600-1750) or the lowest event on day 2 (U1900-1950) and start from there.  I think that since no one can see the spin one is placing on the ball in a video, it is a waste of time trying to be precise, but since you can attack chop, I would say don't play the lowest level events.

Collins - NextLevel's advice is a very good one. You should be able to win a anything below 1900 event with a few exceptions (run into hot player, or doesn't know how to play combination players).

Unless you play drastically lower in tournaments, you should be around 2000+-100 points.

I won't guess a rating, but I would say significantly higher than 1000 and close to 2000 based solely on 1 video.  What is your opponent rated?  That would give you some idea.
1 thing you'll need to work on before the tournament is your serve.  I don't know if it's intentional or not, but you're clearly hiding the ball with your free hand.  Someone would have to call you on it (a lot of people don't), but if they did you would have to adjust your serves very quickly.  You don't want to get flustered during a match if someone calls you on it.

I won't guess a rating, but I would say significantly higher than 1000 and close to 2000 based solely on 1 video.  What is your opponent rated?  That would give you some idea.

His opponent is 2083. I think he went 6 games with him. He actually looks about the same level or one level lower than his opponent.

I love it when people estimate a ridiculously low rating because someone doesn't look the part.

I said close to 2000, and I don't think that's not ridiculously low.  I only mentioned significantly higher than 1000 because of someone else's comment.

Sorry that was not intended for you. I think somebody mentioned he is lower than 1000 rating before based of the video.

My opponent Ken Yutaka Takahashi is rated 2050++, although the video i posted was already one of my better set against him... he is a modern chopper... he mixes no-spin, side-spin, top-spin and under-spin when he is away from the table... and has a very consistent flat drive with either his forehand or backhand... in regards to my serve, well you are right, though unintentional sometimes i do accidently cover the ball with my free hand... i'm one of those players from the 21 point game era... its just now (past 4 months)  that i am able to play more than 4 times a month again after having an average of 8 best of 5 games per month for the last 8 years.

Nice video, but make sure to keep your arm out of the way when serving. It constitutes as illegal serves because your tossing hand is in the line of sight for your opponents

Promised some time ago to post a video of me in a match using Blue Fire M1. I disliked M1 quite quickly because for me the top-sheet and the sponge somehow don't harmonize. So this will not happen. M2 is a totally different story. It's in my opinion the best European/ Japanese rubber together with T05/T64. Although I recorded some official matches I didn't get the OK from my oponents to show it. So here's a short video during warm up and some drills (link already posted in the Bluefire M2/M3 review topic).
I'm the guy in the red shirt

That's chopping/defending by definition... wear down or deceive the opponent into unforced errors.

Good game. Four quick comments for seguso

a) work on your BH swing when you attack - it has to begin lower, from racket being dipped
b) maintain better balance - you need to recover your body equilibrium faster
c) work on executing your FH attack with some more power - you are relying a lot on good placement but often (against better opponents) you need more "oomph" so to speak.

Good touch, consistency, and very nice tenacity! FTW!

Just an opening to the outside, not really a window.

I was at the Seemiller camp that David attended late last year and his forehand stroke is way too big.  He starts swinging way too hard and ends up smacking the ball with less than ideal spin.  Dan was on him constantly along with the other coaches.
