Topic: Some of my blades

Subject: Some of my blades
Date Posted: 06/22/2013 at 3:26pm
I want to show you some of my blades. I would not call myself a collector. I am more a player who tests different blades and keeps some of them in terms of subjective sympathy to its playing characteristics or its appearance. It is not my demand to own those blades in perfect overall condition. The only blade I am "collecting" is the one I like the most and the one I play with: The Viscaria

Here we go with:

Nothing special, just an additional differentiator.
I only do this with my Viscaria blades.

No, sorry. You are not the first one who asked...I mentioned my inbox...
My intention with this thread was to show some of my blades, not to sell them.

If one of my blades would be offered you could see it in the FS section.

Thanks friends! "Liz Taylor" definitely is a beautySmile

This Viscaria ST is in brilliant condition and also has the special outer ply (compare No.1 - Natalie W., which also has that wonderful Koto).

How do your various Viscaria blades play/feel relative to each other?  I have three Viscaria's myself, and each one plays differently...

Well, I can give you my impression but of course it is subjective:
I have tested/played about 12-15 different Viscarias. Overall, the basic charasteristics of every of those Viscarias was similar. I guess everyone who reads this knows about the general characteristics of a Vis so I´ll go ahead with the subjective tier:

Of course there are/were little differents to me. The higher the weight (the thicker the blade), the more speed I feel/felt that comes out of a Viscaria.
When I played with an old Vis I nearly always (one exception) had the better subjective feel with my play, compared to a new version Vis. Let´s call it softness. With the exception of one new Viscaria I played all the old versions felt softer to me. The exception I talk about is a silver badge Viscaria that has the special outer ply structure (in parts).

Every time I played/play a Viscaria that has the special outer ply (mainly or in parts) I have a great feeling, a wonderful mixture of speed and control, which felt slightly superiour compared to a Viscaria without the special structure.

From the Viscarias I played with, the http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=61374&PID=730237&title=some-of-my-blades#730237" rel="nofollow - 94g ST (Natalie W.) together with the http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=61374&PID=730391&title=some-of-my-blades#730391" rel="nofollow - 88g FL (Jean S.) gave/give me the best personal feeling. Both are beauties and a dream to play with. Natalie is slightly faster.

I have not yet played the http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=61374&PID=735589&title=some-of-my-blades#735589" rel="nofollow - 88g ST (Liz T.) but if you have a look at it and its structure you can imagine how it could/will feelSmile

I knew your Spirit, you showed it to me in the past - of course it is beautiful!

I don't like playing the Viscaria (yes, I know, that I am nearly the only one, who doesn't like), but your collection is fantastic.

you guys should keep the ball in the "right" court. some of you guys just dragged these threads all over the places or off the orbit...
The ST handle of this Viscaria, sadly to say, has been messed up.
Just sad. Ouch
I know how comfortable the original shape of this ST handle is, period.

Thanks for your opinions about this Vis ST. Of course this one´s handle has been sanded by someone and it wasn´t done with very much sensitivity - the person also sanded the lenses and they became blurry. It was customed by its previous owner. My first thought also was "Ouch!...too much sanded". But I gave it a try along with a thin tape by Butterfly - this Viscaria plays fantastic. It has a great outer ply. This blade also had one ding at the edge and after the restauration showed that great outer Koto-ply to me.

One more fact for you, tiehwen: You cannot deny that there are players all around the world who cannot use very thick handles. The handle of a Vis ST is rather thick and it is a subjective feeling if you like it this way or not. Blade No. 14 shows an untouched Vis ST by the way.

What those owners did with their things belongs to them. I ask you to please stop accumulating my thread with a language/communication style that in my perception is rather rude. I felt this some times before when you left posts (last time especially as an answer to member Antuan).

Please leave this style out of my thread. Thanks.

Please check my answer to a similar comment/question some posts above. I don´t care about any pro player who uses or used the Viscaria.

By the way the blade was released in 1993 so in my honest opinion it is not necessary to merge it with players like Z.J.

Of course it is ok if you don´t find it specialWink
