I bought the Paddle Palace glue package, but now
I have used all the sponges.. I have bought tearmender
and it works like a charm, but i really don't want
to buy the sponges that paddle palace sells.
5bucks for 10 small sponges sounds like a rip off (plus the shipping fees)
any better alternative?
thanks in advance

I slice up one of those big orange grout sponges used in laying tile.  You can get them at Home Depot for around $3 or so I think.  I just use a razor knife and cut it up into sections that are about two inches long and about 1" in width and depth.

Cheap foam paint brushes work great too.

Household dishwasher sponge works well. I just peel off the rough side (easier when wet) and cut it into smaller pieces.
Try and get your hands on the blue sponge (haha dhs reference). The yellow ones work as well.

... Or go on to eBay and buy a pack of "sponge hair rollers"...

Just pull out the flimsy plastic bits and cut to size...

Works well with Butterfly clips...

Dirt cheap...

Best of All: I also use Tearmender and use makeup remover sponges.

They are cheap, usually just over a dollar

They already tear into the right size and i tear them in two.

I get them at Publix but you can get them anywhere.

Perfect

Great.. my wife will now slowly find out her sponges r slowly disappearing..
While writing this topic found it funny how i can spend 300- 500 on a blade
No prob, but when i have to spend 5 bucks on 10 sponges i cringe..
Is this my asianness? Or do non asians feels the same?

I know some asian players who are pretty generous with out club.  So I wouldn't attribute it to being Asian.  My theory is simple.  I don't want to spend money needlessly.  If I need expensive blades and rubber, then I'll spend the money.  Fact is is don't need such things, so no problem.

I also don't like it when companies are overly (subjective opinion) opportunistic with pricing.  It is certainly their prerogative (I'm a free market oriented kind of guy), but it's my prerogative to dislike it.  After being charged $7 for a small tube of Butterfly water based glue many years ago I got irritated and went on a mission to find a low cost generic water based glue.  Surely glue shouldn't cost $7 for 20ml.  I found TearMender and spread the word online and with a YouTube video.  I am thrilled that it (and the similar Copydex) has worked out so well for so many people. I like to think it is "karmic" (or at least free market) justice for charging $7 for a small tube of glue.
