I have a question about faceing a specific style of player. The player always plays upfront and never leaves the table. He plays a rather quick game using angles more than spin and power.

I just cant seem to bet him! That would be okay if he was much better than me, but he is not! In our training group we have simillar results against the others, so how do I play him to win?

My basic tactic is to get behind the table (2-3 meters) and play hard. I know that that is not the answer to bet him, that gives him an advantage using the angles... Please help me out here!

You picked to play an attacking game by standing far away from the table. He is using his endurance and experience vs. your power and speed. He may have the advantage using the angles, but you have yours too because you have more time and able to generate more power.
Take a look at how others play him. The same way?
If you don't like to play that far, try learning to play close to the table also (which means good serves, returns, third ball attacks).

From my experience.if i play this style of opponent .. i will stand a lit bit far from table ( middle distance ) and make slow/fast high power side looping .. i can guarantee he will get problem with it.. Try to adjust your service to make him return long ..

can he return serves well? serve long, fast side and back spin to his bh, most people have to return this long, or slow loop it. stay close to the table so you can reach most parts of the table, so he wont make you run around. if you can flick serves, use that alot, it will throw him off.
