Hello everyone!

I really like your forum, lots of good information here. This is my first post on this forum, in fact it is the first one I ever posted at all. I recently traded a blade that has no brand name on it at all, the person I traded with also has no clue what it is. I wonder if anyone saw one like this and has some info on it. The blade is fairly stiff (at least for me, it seems I always played with flexible blades) and has very soft inner core. I can easily make a hole with my fingernails, the top ply seems very soft as well. Did not measure it, but it feels lighter then all my blades and is about 6mm thick. Thank you for your input Smile

It looks like a balsa core with birch outer plies. These kinds of blades are relatively simple to make, as you can buy all the wood at a craft supply store- the birch is pre-laminated and comes as one sheet of three plies. I believe that PaddlePalace used to sell these back in the day.

Is this really balsa? I already had several balsa blades, but the structure of these balsa-veneers looked different to this. For me it could also be a kind of kiri (paulownia) or similar veneer.

Here you can compare it with the kiri-core of a ZJ Super ZLC

Of course I am not 100% sure, because I am no wood-specialist. Balsa may also be possible.

If you want to know, which kind of outer veneer it is, you should upload another picture with a better look on the veneer. From the first look it good be ayous.

This blade seems to have an interesting composition: 7-ply, with a soft core, soft outer, 2 harder middle-plies with another soft veneer between them. I think, this must be a hand made blade.

Hi, I am sorry I did not reply earlier, but up until now I was not allowed to post reply. I attached two more pics just in case if you are still interested, I appreciate your input anyway.
