A warm rubber and a cold rubber definitely play differently, but does anyone think it's actually worth paying $200 for a set of battery-powered rubber warmers?

I feel like if you're gonna be that anal over the heat of your rubbers, you should be able to win $200 from a tournament to justify your purchase

Why spend $180 on two sheets of Tenergy when you can effectively get the same results out of, say, $100 worth of warmed V-15? It could pay for itself in the long run if you ignore all the hassle it would cause.

I'm probably foregoing the opportunity to make millions by posting this idea, but how about constructing your carbon fiber blade so that the carbon fiber sheets have electrodes attached that are accessible at the base of the handle.  Now supply a base that you simple stand the racket in (like the older cordless phones).  The base would have two IR thermal sensors and would terminate heating when the target temperature has been reached.

What a brilliant idea if I do say so myself.  ;^)

I hear Andro has come up with a compact microwave with an instruction list that lists the ideal warming temperatures (Fahrenheit and Centigrade) of all currently approved ITTF rubbers.

So, warm rubber lovers, just shove your rubber or rubbers du jour inside this $175 little darlin', set it for the right time, and voila! nice toasty rubber ready to use to kick butt with at either your club or your next tournament.

Fast-forward to 2020,

ITTF announces the banning of all electrical paddle integrated rubber warmers.

"Due to the health effects (primarily 1st degree burns), fire hazards, and increased global warming these devices will no longer be allowed at sanctioned events.  Note that this is also in alignment with the expected world-wide ban on the use of electricity."

ITTF has indicated that players will be required to warm their rubbers with approved renewable energy warming devices (glass boxes set out in sunlight and equipped with insulated transport covers).  These should be available from manufacturers shortly at an expected cost of $200.

It's already been done.  Fang Pi booster, with sells for 35 USD for a 250 ml. can, has been tested, used, and approved by the world's best.  And now you can buy it at better table tennis mail order establishments around the globe.

Just keep your paddle from the inner side of your tracksuit (at your belly) for some minutes.
