ive been trying to do this, but keep on getting side top.
ive been looking at pota's serve, primorcas, dimas, but cant seem to get it

any tips?
i lost my racquet

you are probably bring up your paddle too quickly before the completion of your serve.  just fyi, there are no pure any kind of spins, back and up spins are gonna carry a lil side spin, and side spins are gonna carry a lil back/up spin.  even if you get a pure side spin after the ball leaves your paddle, after the ball bounces twice off the table it's gonna change the spin a bit.

The main thing is the receiver is classifying
serves as :
class1
chop
& chop+side
class 2
top
& top+side
Spinwise thats enough to tell him whether to close or open his racket. Of course hes also got to read speed length and direction.
At a higher level sidespin is not for getting people to hit out but more for helping to disguise the top or chop, and to limit the safe direction of receivers return.
