The prize money for the Nationals has been reduced to the final 4. It used to be the top 16, then the top 8, and now just to the semifinalists. Pretty soon the winner will receive only a trophy.

Wow, I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. The previous year there was $500 for the quarterfinalists in both Men's and Women's singles. Now . . . nothing.

My point is that with 700 players paying $300. to enter the prize fund should be better.
That's $210,000 in entry fees alone. Plus the Men's and Women's prize money is donated by the Hsing   foundation.

Doesn't this go back to not getting outside the sport title sponsors?

IDK what the Hsing Foundation level of commitment is, but this SHOULD be the biggest payout event in the US. USATT doesn't have a person who is focused on getting and building sponsorship relations / fundraising and that SHOULD be one of a number of important things to do.

679 entries - but not all are paid - from personal knowledge of a few club mates. 2 are actually are going to cancel, between the entry fee and housing its pricey to attend and we are even close enough to drive.

The U.S. Open will probably be held in December at Las Vegas. The U.S. Nationals are in Huntsville, Alabama next month.

That's strange. Does anyone else get that message? Or not get it?

More likely it's an overzealous office security system trying to show off in order to justify that they suck the life out of us. I bet The message won't show when I follow the link from home.

Sometimes speaking up works. The $500 quarterfinal prize money for Men's and Women's Singles is back! USATT didn't tell me, I just went to the prospectus for something else and saw the update. I have a printout of the previous version with no prize money for the quarterfinals of Men's and Women's Singles.

We had a bye in the finals and the 1/2, it was a hard fight in the 1/4, what is the prognostic in the 1/8? $100 sounds right, that’s just another $800. We can do it!!!

Entries closed. Per Omnipong, 618 registered for Huntsville.  Last year 810 registered for DFW. Down 24%.

They waited until entries were closed for the Nationals before announcing the date and location of the Open.  They were afraid that if they announced the Open earlier players wouldn't go to the Nationals.  If they selected good locations they should be proud to announce dates and locations more than a year in advance.  Many sports have their major events scheduled years out.  Gordon Kaye was the best leader we've had in the 28 years I've been playing, and he had a hockey background.  He did make some mistakes, but his mistakes were made in an effort to improve table tennis.
