Man, what a surprise.

Yokoyama is very good - last year he was eliminated in a very close match Kohei Morimoto, who is the guy that handled Tao WZ this year. Still surprised to see a former Chinese Super Leaguer go down like that.

in the junior boys teams event as usual, so many foreign players taking over the event who just coincidentally appear as if they were 20-24 years old! oh they are probably physically matured earlier right?

Damn, I was going to post about why I thought Kasahara could beat Tokic but I got distracted and closed the tab before I finished...

Tokic falls 2-4 to Hiromitsu Kasahara

Today's results were pretty unpredictable. Zhang, Xiang Jing washed away Jin, Takuya. If I am not wrong, Takuya was a silver medalist in japan's national tournament in 2014. He was beaten by Jun Mizutani in the final. Such a good player.

Given the way Eugene beat Jin at a World Tour recently, that was not so unpredictable.

I wish I could've watched the men 40's final between Butler and Bennborn (SWE). Thomas Bennborn is a 2550 version of Philippe Dassonval, but with less body language. Not sure how many forum members will understand that analogy.

Doubt they were recorded because they are such early round matches. Tons of videos of Kasahara on Youtube and I can show you a video from Japan of Yokoyama playing if you want.

I saw a couple of doubles matches of Yokoyama, but no singles. If you have a link to one of his singles matches then sure go ahead and post it.

Jeff Huang, in his first tournament since last August, beat 2012 US Open semifinalist Filip Szymanski.

How did a 2000 player manage to sneak in as a 65 seed? (He lost in the group to Thomas Bennborn and did not advance.)

65Guo, Hao 2582
65Corlette, Stefan 2011
65Hao, Donglong 2569

Note that the 16th's means round of 32. No American is in the round of 16 yet.

Likely an ITTF ranking for playing for a smaller country as a junior.

Yeah.  Something about his results in the first round showed that he has been training really hard.  The lefty factor also helps.  He does have possibly the most powerful forehand in the US.

Nope, none of the livestream links work. For some moronic reason someone decided not to go with Youtube. As if anyone else can stream video better on this planet.

No ITTF points listed for this player, there must be a different explanation.

There might be a slightly different explanation, but it is almost definitely related.
