I do my serves with the Joo Se Hyuk 'no nonsense' motion: underspin, side-top, side.

from heavy to low backspin and no spin serves.  i hardly use side spin cause i can't seem to get them right sometimes. i prefer my serves to be simple and backspin is just as simple as it gets.

my favorite player is Oh Sang Eun, so i use a lot of his serves.

i serve mostly short, but i use heavy backspin, side-top, pure side spin, and i have a brutal heavy no-spin serve. fast serves are usually no spin or sidespin. i use them very rarely, though. i also use a forehand inside out serve for backspin, side, top, and heavy no spin.

as for my toss, all of them are high toss-usually about 10-12 feet high. you get some serious corkscrew on the serves.

My current serves:

Short-mid toss Wang Hao reverse short
Short-mid toss Wang Hao (reverse-faint) into short Ma Lin pendulum backspin
Mid-high toss (pendulum-faint) into reverse (deceptive/hard to return, short down the line)
Mid-high toss Pure Long pendulum sidespin
Mid toss Heavy back/slight sidespin pendulum
Mid toss Heavy backspin reverse serve
Heavy Dead pendulum (any height)
Heavy Dead reverse (any height)

*all my "faint's" are interchangable Ex. (reverse-faint) pendulum and vice-versa

I also reverse short (faint into ma lin pendulum serve at times) from the forehand side..works out pretty well since it curves and is hard to push. Now I know why Wang Hao does it from time to time.

I can do a 270 degree wrist rotation top/sidespin pendulum but it got inaccurate..so did my fh topspin.

Oh yes there are 27 possible combinations of spin, 28 if u count no-spin. There are about 13-17 types that aren't physically possible to serve.
Hard work and self-determination will surpass talent.

I have just a couple of serves, and prolly nowhere close to u guys' 20 something serves, but what i was heading to is trying to serve a ball which i know the range where the ball is returned. saying, a good side-back spin pendulum serve usually brings the ball back to the middle or the far side where i can start a forehand loop or flick. If somebody is that good to return it to my backhand, that s a gift for me, since that kind a returned spin will give u a chance to do the easiest and spinniest backhand.

i like alink change my serves all the time, not necessarily to copy pros but because it suits me, i tend to use a similar movement as waldner, where my whol arm movement is hidden by my body so as to give the opponent no clue as to what serve i am doing, i dont necessarily try to copy him tho (although i have tried). as for spins, well, i use them all, topspin sid topspin, side, side-under, pure under, dead, as well as backhand serves and reverse pendulum i literallly use evry type of serve, but not necessarily in the same match, i use different serves vs different people, usually i use 4 or 5 serves against one player in a 5 game match

My serves aren't good at all, but these are the 2 I most use:

Hightoss, forehand serve, Sidespin to far backhand.

Hightoss, backhand serve, chop serve to short/middle

I thought the service law said the serve starts with the ball in the PALM of your hand :-)

it's fun to try out many different serves but is better to stick to some during a match.  for me, it doesn't really help my game if i serve many different serves. the best way to serve is to serve with intention.  I am not talking about the intention of the spin, but the intent to expect how your opponent is going to return your ball regardless of what serve you produced.  serves are useless if you do not pay attention to your opponent's intent, so people should not waste too much time making their serves perfect.

Agree and never expect to win outright on serve!
