What do you think is the USA Rating Ceiling for that style ? One is Oliver Mader who is consistently rated in the 2100 s. What equipment do they use ? |

There is Peter Chen from San Francisco whose current rating is 2056. He is a same side penholder who uses long pips to push block with his backhand and put away a loose return at three-quarter speed with his forehand. I saw him play back in the early 2000s at I believe the Nats and almost every push block was either close to a drop shot or a dead flat no bounce no spin nearly kissing the edge.
I don t know what kind of blade or rubber he used or presently uses. |

I don t know if Peter is playing any more. I haven t seen him in a few years. He was a great pushblocker, everything well placed. |

Herbert Neubauer has a USATT rating of 2333. It has been a while that he played here but e did beat guys like Richard McAfee and Barry Dattel. By the way, Pushblocker has been above 2300 as well.

Michigan s Li Zhi-Ming (USATT 2358).
Long time ago, there was a video of Li Zhi-Ming playing against China Long Pimple Legend (黄建疆, Wang Jian Jiang), Li Zhi-Ming won easily. I briefly went above 2300 after the 2011 Teams.. It has gone downhill ever since.. I used to practice 4 x per week when I was 2200 - 2300.. Now, I m lucky if I get to play once every 2 weeks.. Sucks when life gets in the way of table tennis  Edited by Pushblocker - 04/25/2016 at 7:41am |

There is also Maria Castillo, a team mate of Pamela Song at Wisconsin. Rated 2283. She plays a similar style to Pamela.

Peter s high rating was 2311 in 2004.
At the Western Open he made the final round robin in the open where he beat Ludovic Gombos who was then 2453. I watched his match with Khoah Nguyen who was then 2674. Peter narrowly lost 9-11 in the 5th. |

I wouldn t call these players full pushblockers, as they are more hybrid-type players, but-

Peter might have lost that match to Khoa because he got and answered a cellphone call during that match (much to the amazement of Khoa)..........but that just adds to the legend of Peter Chen, no? :) |

prob 10 years ago was a guy from SoCal I think.... khaled (sp?) who used smooth and LPs and was proficient push blocking and chopping/reversing on both wings. he was around 2500 I think. but I also understand he got into legal trouble.....

They are attackers who use LPs. All have nasty FHs to finish points(I have played all 3) Pushblocker has nothing :( |

seems like the answer is none, either they don t play that style, just a list of any style long pimple players, or they have long retired, or never stayed at a 2300 level or higher. or from overseas
