Hah! This should be less controversial than all those forums about tensor rubbers, boosting, ITTF rules, etc. I need a new pair of shoes. I had three pairs that went bad: a Yasaka pair that wore out, a Joola pair where the whole side ripped out, and a Stiga pair where the sole seperated from the top. Oh, and I've got a pair of Donic's that are splitting on the sides. I've still got a pair of Addidas, but they fit a little tight, so I need something new. Any recommendations? 1. I like the shoes to be light. Nothing with heavy leather on top. 2. I like grippy soles. 3. I like durability. 4. I like real table tennis shoes, not something from another sport. So what are your recommendations and why?

Nike or another pair of a newer Adidas?Any of those brands made for indoor courts especially volleyball because the rubber soles are perfect for multicourt use including TT, giving not only great grip for wooden floors but excellent support with little weight.

$15 Costco Court Classic! I've had the same pair for maybe 5 years.
I don't know how you guys buy those TT brand name shoes. Don't you have to mail order them? What if they don't fit? Can you return them?

I once ordered killerspin shoes that didn't fit. I just got the next size up. They usually take returns. |

I'm gong to be at Nationals in Vegas in December. All -the vendors will have some shoes there, so if I have any idea of what are good shoes, I'll just try them on for size and find a pair that fit well.

What are your opinions on heel cushions. I'm using a pair of nike cross/court shoes right now but they have the huge airbags under the heel. This might not be such a bad thing as I am a big guy. Is there some advantage to having a thin under heel region?

As an amatuer, getting the heel cushion might be good protection for your feet and legs. However, most serious players and pros prefer lghter shoes and a closer feel to the floor.

Get a hard sole as well, you need the support and feel around the floor.
