It is like the ITTF doesn't exist anymore.

My interest in big time TT raised with the 2003 Wttc and Schlager’s triumph, I was comfortable with how the ITTF tour functioned, it was simple and straightforward. I later advocated to copy the ATP system and I was happy WTT went that direction however they couldn’t sell all their Grand Smashes events, oops! From there, the communication about the new system featuring feeders, contenders, star contenders, smashes… was less than adequate. Add to that the weird lighting and camera angles and you have thrown off a solid base without creating a new one. Sad. Maybe it will just take a few more years for things to settle or I’m just bad at adapting. I am impatient for sure.

Kanak just launched a Gofundme campaign trying to get the necessary support which is needed to chase his dream of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Apparently, due to lacking funds of USATT and suffering financially due to his suspension he has to find different solutions.

Fair enough, even though the parents have the money to help his career, it is a good thing to test the fanbase and see how many are ready to join their wallet to their verbal support.

edit: Alok Jha and Arun Jha are not joking! talk about 1st row support! HeartHeartClap

Almost 10k, get to your wallets folks, Venmo and PayPal are accepted. It's a little bit of your own table tennis dream that you finance and karma will transfer some to your own game Big smile

His fh topspin is so fluid! I like the side chop block too. The intensity of the Bundesliga builds his mental to a point he will not be afraid of anybody in Paris, the dream is on!

Imagine if Kanak qualifies and does well in the Olympics that will be a great story.

Is it just me, why do I feel like that's rather selfish of him to ask others to donate just so he can live his dream?  You don't see any of the current celebrities asking for handouts when they first started acting.  Almost all of them had to work multiple jobs just to earn enough to cover their acting classes.  Why can't he take on side jobs to support himself if he is so hellbent on achieving his dream?  What about other people's dreams?  Will he donate to others to allow them to achieve their dreams?  Sometimes I feel he is just living in his own little fantasy.  Having already played in several Olympics with no promising results should rather tell him to just quit.  Persistence with no results is pure ignorance.  At the end of the day, he uses other people's money to cover his trip to Paris and his board and training.  This is no different than those using GoFundMe to ask others to donate to their dream vacations.  Aren't those their dreams too?  If he is too poor to cover his own expenses, he really needs to get a job.  And if his parents are still supportive of his choice, maybe they should take on side jobs to pay for his trainings and such.

While I see where you are coming from, I can't help but think that by giving to his Olympic fund, we are paying for our own dream too, like buying a lottery ticket but having much better chances to win. Last period a young American  was at his level were the Seemiller/Boggan days, it's been a while. We are celebrating Kanak and his decision to go all the way with his passion, full time professional table tennis warrior! We also applauding the fact he was able to come back better than before after a big 15 months hiatus, what a scare!
Imagine if he gives us a performance comparable to Lily Zhang's at the world cup when she only lost the #1 in the world in the 1/2; or better!?! What a fiesta it will be, I can pay for that; it's better than going as a spectator and be so far I would barely see the ball.
Come on! give him something. Even $20 is a great gesture.

This doesn't make any sense. Now of course, I am not in the USA, so maybe there is something that is known to everyone and not to me, but isn't this their mission statement to support Olympic athletes?

It is odd that Kanak would have to go through a gofundme campaign to raise money. Where is the NGB in all of this?

THE USA tends to be better at funding athletes who have qualified for the Olympics than funding athletes who are trying to qualify for the Olympics.

This is PURE SPECULATION and has not been confirmed in any way. Possibly Kanak wants nothing to do with USATT because of his suspension and is trying to go his own way? Have you noticed he doesn't wear any Team USA / USATT shirts? Its a stretch but who knows right?

USATT doesn't have any money. The last time I saw a financial statement was 2022, direct payment to players was less than $7,000, total. There may be grants from outside the organization. If you were the top player in the USA and depending on the USATT for food money you might starve to death.
