ive bought a red optimum mp max thickness (2.3mm) and placed it on my tube aluminum and boy i was in for a surprise! i glued the rubber using 2 layers of rubber cement and there wasnt really an obvious glue effect. the doming wasnt visible. the gray sponge is definitely that of an almana and the topsheet is similar to a mendo mp but with a different  label.
i thought this was a normal fast rubber. i was wrong! when i tired doing fh to fh drills with it i was amazed by how much speed i could generate using only short swinging strokes. when making long strokes for the first time the ball always went long over the end of the table. after an hour of breaking in the rubber i finally got used to it a lil bit and find my loops especially loop drives verryyy  fast..  i must say this is as fast as bryce glued or unglued if not faster. the thing with this rubber is its soft enough to generate very spinny loops but at the same time the speed is tremendous due to the nanotechnology used in the almana sponge. the topsheet that being of a mendo mp's is very grippy and also soft.. the combination lets the ball sink into the sponge, generate a huge amount of spin and a catapult effect for the speed. the control is probably the best thing about this rubber, at both high and low speeds you wont have a hard time controling and placing the ball. one more thing, this rubber is good on both close to the table and far from the table attacks. the "splak" sound is loud but not as much as neos sound.
what i hate about this rubber is the fragility of its sponge though.. the sponge kinda cracks when incorrectly cut and you need a new and very sharp utility knife to cut it.. i guess thats the only the bad side.. the topsheet is good though and would last 6-8 months granting it has the same qualities of a mendo mp..
speedwise-> optimum mp more or less equal to bryce > almana regular
spinwise -> optimum mp > bryce
controwise -> optimum mp > bryce
cost -> optimum mp $ 30 < bryce $ 40
durability -> optimum mp < bryce

criz, we've met in person and played a while back in lopues the optimum mp is good for almost kind of shots except chopping.. the control is really good, y choose bryce when you dont speed glue and is harder to control when it is wiser to choose a rubber with almost the same speed but better feel and control and much softer.. i forgot to mention the sponge of optimum mp is like 40-41 degrees.. i have only tried the andro revolution cor on the andro rubbers and i say its much more controllable than bryce and much softer but still very fast.. when speed glue will be banned on 2007 i think optimum mp will be a good replacement for bryce (not the ps version)

Hello yogi_bear,

I have been using Optimum-MP since just it released from Dandoy in mid-May. Yes, it's a very good rubber and you will love it. However, if you are not a looper but a hard-hitter or smasher style player (as I do),  6 months durablity is a dream to me. Considering I played 3 times a week, 2 hours each time, my OMP only lasted for a month. Then, on the topsheet I saw all dead pip marks at where the sweetpot I hit the most, losing grip & bounce. Ouch! Cost me CAD$30 to replace a new one every month. Anyhow, so far this is the best rubber I found that can offer me a good tacky surface grip and bouncy sponge in fast speed. I still love it. If you have other rubbers recommendation with the same characteristic but very durable, please advice me. Many Thanks

Optimum MP is soft + speed + control rubber but I think it's not spinner and more durable than Bryce.

it is spinnier than bryce but not faster.. ive tried both the bryce and mp on my aluminum and my shots on the mp are spinnier

otto, if you want something like the optimum mp try the Mendo MP, i think its one of the longest lasting euro/jap rubber in the market. i play almost everyday for not less than 2 hrs and im a loop driver not a pure looper.. we'll see how the optimum mp last but i do take care of my rubbers very well and its once in a blue moon that id hit the edge of my blade on the table or sumthing
