Looks genuine to me for the most part. The only thing that i am lightly concerned about is the lack of a serial number but I guess the black tags did not serial numbers on them back in the day. Curious to hear from experts on this.

It is indeed a genuine blade. Butterfly did black tags with no serial number from about 1987 - 2005, then in 2006 the serial numbers started while the black tags were discontinued in 2008. So this particular blade was produced sometime between 2000 - 2005. Personally I would keep it locked away safely and not play with it.

But someone said that the text "Arylate - CARBON" of the plastic tag at the back of the handle is not bolded. Is there any problem with this?

The text is not "bolded"? Well, perhaps "someone" was drunk. The plastic tag on the bh side looks exactly the way it should. The text itself is nicely centred and on the last picture you posted you can see that the J.T.T.A.A. laser print is also genuine. Fake ones are not as deep and dark, so to speak. Furthermore you can clearly see the black and blue ALC layer. Fake ones oftentimes do not even care about the color of the fibers. Don't get too confused. It is a genuine blade. |

$230 for a no-serial TBS with small fish scale in such great condition is a great buy any day.
