Great videos. The footwork and strokes are just so fast, it's almost second nature to them. Thanks for posting.

Im not sure if he mentioned it, but in the crossover step it is important that the crossing over foot (left foot for righthanders) goes forward (in front of the body or the trailing right foot) as much as possible so that the body weight is going forward. You can also kinda push off forward with the trailing right foot. Of course if you are very very late there is no choice.

Added a little of the missing parts of the camp from Imago's link. They also have the previous videos from a different angle.

Might also add that your positioning should be as this:
-Legs apart (just a tiny bit more than shoulder length) -Bent Back -Right foot should be behind the left foot by one half of your foot size if your right handed -Left foot should be behind right foo by one half of your foot size if your left handed

Good help, my thighs hurt now though. Some people think that table tennis takes little effort. I'd like to see them try this

These videos are actually
my recordings from the training camp, where I was also coaching (by the way, I
can highly recommend the camp to everybody – it was really amazing! J).
The videos are made for www.btexinfo.dk, a site from a Danish TT shop that I do some work for. |

I learned/confirmed something important after watching the vid . . . I need to get in better cardio and leg shape. The only time I squat like that is after eating a burrito.

Those are intermediate to advance players. To start on these drills one begins square with the table and pratice counter hitting moving side to side with one step in low stance (never cross feet to step to one side). So basic FH and BH stance will be the same.
As one gets better than do you start doing loops with hops in low stance (eyes should be around net height). You will have to adjust your stance for FH, the foot on the hitting side will be a little behind to create the distance necessary to loop close to the table.

You body should move itself without the brain telling it to do so, otherwise you'll be too slow or awkward. (Easier said than done, I know)

ya, but I think those players has been doing that since they were kids.
So if they just sense the ball heading there, they are moving into the ready postion to return the ball. I think they can even do it sleep walking......
