15. Butterfly Desmond Douglas Pro Weight: 83 Gramms Sized: 16,0/14,8cm Another blast from the past. 5-ply-wood. Des Douglas and Alan Cook had a 170 turn rally within one minute at Britisch Championships 1986 in Newcastle. I think this record is still valid.

Time to move a little bit forward... Since we just had the Des Douglas we should not forget the other player...
16. Butterfly Alan Cooke Weight: 92 Gramms Sized: 15,3/14,8cm With old metal tag and old font on the straightened and flatened lense it must have been produced in end of 1991/beginn of 1992 when using the Roman font in production was slowly stopped due to being replaced by the new font. The old font print on blades head was replaced very fast but the old font lenses were still used in production until the stocks were exhausted. I think this blade is one of the best looking ones Butterfly has ever produced regarding its style and color selection. Cooke was 6 times British champion, best international result was reaching the round of the last 16 at the World Championships 1987 in New Delhi. Edited by Timo1978 - 02/17/2015 at 1:07pm |

18. Butterfly Klampar
Weight:68 Gramms Sized: 16,5/15,5cm Came with old tag and was available in AN/FL/ST and CO handle. The top ply of the Klampar is very sensitive, not a good blade for Klampars Invention of fresh-glueing The Blade is not stiff but has soft reaction to supply Topspins. The head is larger than the standard bat and yet lighter. Klampar was a real rebel, he got banned several times by the hungarian association for leaving the Players camp without permission when he was visiting the western european countries due to tournaments.... There is a "Firehand Style" and two Versions of "Firehand".... One of These was only made for US market.. Maybe you will see them soon... Gergely if i remember right there was one with metallic sign on top of the handle, the oldest one, the one from my post, both were without Carbon, the Gergely Tamca5000er without font on head and lager head (1. Version) Gergely Tamca 5000er Modell with Font on blades head, the Gergely 21 and the Gergely Alpha... |

as i recall, the only gergely racket i knew of, before the carbon etc.
was like medium speed....probably 5 ply, possibly off- and had a flared handle that was thin - and it had 3 grooves lengthwise up the entire length of the handle :)

19. Butterfly Elegance
Weight: 79 Gramms Sized: 15,4/15,0cm With old font on blades head and (lost)old metal tag, straightened and flatened lense. Blades from the Elegance Series (Dvoracek, Agnes Simon and Dr Simon and Kucharski) were the lightest blades in the Butterfyll range, the blades heads were little smaller than the regular ones. Speed was even slower than the "Basswood" Series. Made for allround players supplying the best control. |

23. Butterfly Klampar-H
Weight: 75Gramms Sized: 15,9/14,8cm Another blade with old font on blades head and flatened and straightened lense and old metal tag. The hinocki veneers give an excellent touch and are providing a great Feeling. A very good blade for two winged topspin play...still used by many players today. Regarding Klampar I remember many funny stories about him: Once he wanted not to Train since he prefered to visit his girlfriend. When he asked Bercik if he was okay with his leaving he was not allowed. Klampar got really angry and broke his blade. Then he was claiming he had nothing to play with now. Berzcik told him he was right, but he gets a punishment and has to run 5 times around the stadium...Klampar did..later Berzcic found his car with deflated tires and every window was covered with thick layers of pastries...Berzcik went real mad when he saw it.... Another one is about a tournament a british collector had brought a stiga ehrlich blade for exposition.. Klampar saw it and felt in love with the Stiga...he offered much money to the collector and highered the amount two times but his offers were all rejected...the collecter did not want to sell the blade, not even to Klampar. Late at night the security got an intruder alert from the hall were the blade was exposed...they found Klampar holding the Stiga Ehrlich already in his hands... It seems Klampar was a person that did not really accept a "no", a real enfant terrible... Edited by Timo1978 - 01/22/2014 at 4:10am |

24. Butterfly Grubba Pro
Weight: 84 Gramms Sized: 16,7/15,6 Comes with old font and straightened and flatened lense and black tag. Blade was made at the time of the font shift end of 1991/beginn of 1992. This blade is said to be the replacement model for the discontinued Phalanx. Grubba was one of the best allround Players ever, unfortunatly he was playing at the era of Waldner and Appelgren so he once said he will not be remembered much since he always reaching the third or fourth places like 1989 in Dortmund, his biggest international sucess reaching the semi-finals there. Grubba was a very popular Player since his playing skills delighted the crowds. He was famous for switching the playing Hand during the points, later he joined the table Tennis Show of Secretin. Since he died very young the table tennis training camp in Danzig was named to honor him after his death.. |

25. Butterfly Powerdrive (Old Version)
Weight: 96 Gramms Sized: 15,9/15,3cm Here a really nice Butterfly Powerdrive first version model, produced in 1987/1988. Comes with old tag and without lense. For todays play it is a little too slow, regarding its Speed i would add it to the allround section. Edited by Timo1978 - 01/28/2014 at 1:38pm |

BTY Power Drive was the blade for many north American players in the 70's and 80's. Heavy, fast and big sweet spot. I disagree it would be Allround by todays standard. It is fast to very fast with tensors. Juic Nebula is almost a twin to Power Drive for those that can't find original Power Drive.

This particular version of the power drive is my main blade and the speed is definitely off- to off. It has a unique feel, It's very stiff but soft due to the hinoki outerplies.

26. Butterfly Powerdrive Here the little newer version of the old Butterfly Powerdrive. The blade has straightened and flatened lense and old tag, but already new font on blades head. The handle has been sanded for comfortable thumb Position. Butterfly did this with a few models, later they stopped it. I think it was made around 1992-1994. Compared with the older Version this Powerdrive is a little bit faster and straighter, they were sold at 25€/33$

i had this blade - interesting is that is a right hand predominant blade since the cut/indention at the top of the handle would be for a right hander's thumb
i guess a left hander could use it - with the logo on the bh side :)

27. Butterfly Kenny Pro Weight: 92 Gramms Sized: 16,0/15,2cm Here a nice Kenny Pro ST with flatened and straightened lense, no serial, no old tag, with new font on blades head. I already saw ones with old font on head and lense, so i guess it was made in the late eighties and still produced until the mid-nineties. A slow 5-ply blade with lots of control and basswood outer plies and medium soft feel. Probably the follower of the Kenny Style...I think it is best suited for counter play.

28. Butterfly Firehand Comes with straightened and flatened lense and old metal tag, with old font on blades head and thumb sanding. A very rare blade and hard to get especially with ST handle, compared with the Primo Off- the Firehand is thinner and more elastic so it is better suited for topspin play than the Primo. This version of the Firehand must have been produced in the late 1980ies....Still very popular among the german Players. Edited by Timo1978 - 02/17/2015 at 3:42pm |

29. Butterfly Firehand (New Version)
It has neither silver nor old tag. Here the follower of the old Firehand. Surprisingly it was rated OFF+, and was made for the US Market. This version has nothing in common with its famous ancestor that was really an excellent blade. A 5-ply-wood with limba outer plies and ayous inner plies and super core system (carbon). The Blade was one of the fastest blades at the butterfly range end of the 1990ies. |

30. Butterfly Batorfi
Weight: 79Gramms Sized: 15,7/15,4cm Here the allround version, the Batorfi Intellect Dohjo All+, 5-ply-wood, produced for the hungarian player Csilla Batorfi that won several European Championship titles. Later she became head coach of the italian national Team. There was another version published which is faster, rated OFF-. I think the Batorfi-blades were produced in 1989, at least that year is stated at their lenses. There were not many pieces made, it must have been a tiny series...
