My friend is playing shakehand with backhand having short pimple. He would like to know which is the best blade for short pimple. Recommendation?

Anyone knows what blade being used by top shakehand pimple players like Tang Peng (Hong Kong), Wang Yuegu (female-Singapore), Tan Ruiwu (Croatia), Johnny Huang (Canada) etc?

Tan was using Avalox P700 (also used by many SP players) during the olympics, possibly still using it.

If you're using pips go for any hard blade... I'm not experienced with shakehand blades though.

My current set up is Stiga Royal 2mm on a Sword sec 30 carbon blade, similar to the michael maze carbon by butterfly.  This suits my attacking game, and even allows emergency chopping away from the table.

Royal also played well on a Butterfly Korbel Magichand, but I prefer the power of the carbon blade.

Go for 7 Plywood blades like Clipper, P700, Yasaka Maxwood, Ludeack..

Tang Peng uses Clipper and Tan Ruiwu uses P700.

Why is it that people say pips are not meant for the HK? is it because its thin?

I just started using a sheet of 802 on there with the special soft sponge.. not as quick as i wanteed :( but I like it so far.

Stiff blades are best suited for short pips because ball speed and a quick rebound is advantageous to a hitter.

The HK has some flex in it but if it works for you, then thats ok. To each his own.

BTW, Johnny Huang of Canada has used Avalox 700, among others blades.

In the Olympic videos, the Avalox logo on Tan's blade is clearly visible.

hey amateur, how do you like the TSP spectol 21? I just want a nice decently fast pip. Probably not something as fast as stiga royal, and not as slow as 802.. something in between. Or maybe i should get royal!?

A short pips player, who is 2200, in my club uses Sardius.  I, myself, have tried pips on a Dynamix17 and think it works quite well.  Basically, you want a stiff blade - any hard carbon blade should work well.

I played short pips for a long time.  Good blades for SPs are the ones have medium hard feel or hard feel.

Stiff is not entirely correct word.  I am very sorry to get technical here.  For example, if you choose something like Joola Kool or Juic Air Carbon.  They are very stiff blades, but you will not like them because the have soft feel and it's not too good for SPs.

I have seen some of you mentioned couple of good blades.  Here are the blades that I think good for SPs:

1. Butterfly Sardius
2. Butterfly Keyshot (discontinued)
3. Schlager Carbon
4. Butterfly T5000
5. Butterfly Gergely 21
6. Stiga Super Carbon

and of course there are many more, but those are the ones I have used a lot more than others...

if you think joola cool has soft feel then you must be playing very soft, the clipper cr and p700 would be the best since the clipper would be slow, the cacthyou got to use something hard enuff to shorten the dwell in the side you have the pips ythat would forece the ball to dive down faster, is what i feel using av ery fast dhs carbon blade, the ball lose spin faster than playing with  clipper cr blade when returnin a  loop.. avery famous female player from romania used a sk7 blade with pips on both sides like huang

I love the Spectol pips. It has great speed, good control, and not too spinny, just right.

I would rate the spin somewhere between 802 and the 802-40. The type of sponge will affect the spin too.

Spectol 21 has a very soft sponge and going thicker will add more spin.

I recently switched to Spectol Speed (45 degrees sponge) on my FH because Spectol 21 felt too "soft" and not fast enough on that side. This also fits well into my flat hitting and smashing style of play.

If you wish to have a spinnier ball, then Spectol might not be a good fit.

I cannot really say if Stiga Royal is better for you, but as far as I know a lot of top players use Spectol.

Bottom line is whatever suits your style..

Go for a stiff blade, and not overly fast, something as fast as you can handle.
Stiff blades give the SP better effect and sink on the ball, no use getting something with alot of dwell as SP's are more designed to be hit with than to loop.

I think 7 ply's work really well, like Clipper CR or the p700

I have tried short pips on the Avalox P700 and I can attest that it is a good blade. Its actually my backup blade now.

a little bit off thread, but what would be the best TSP pips for a open loop +punch blocking penhold play, something easy to use like 388b but i m looking for something more dangerous and spinny enough for my serves and opening loops.

hello guys...
after you mention your opinion it's good to say the level you are playing!
I play for 20 years with sp in backhand and now i am playing with spectol 21 1.8mm.I think if you are a spin player in forehand you need a carbon blade.Boll spirit is quite good for sp also good hiting balls in backhand...

my personal favorite is the timo boll t5000 or the p700...

For short pimples the best blade must be heavy and fast to absorb the opponent's topspin. Usually on the forehand side pips-out players are using up to 2.0mm pips-in rubber if their pips-out are in max thickness. Appropriate blades and specially made for short pips are the elder DHS blades. I have two for sale and I will be glad to answer all requests with details.
Another good blades for shake-hand short pips is Korbel Magic-Hand, Stiga Clipper, Schlager Carbon and their similiar blades.
Our best pips out chinese penhold player is using max thickness Friendship 802-40 on Stiga ALL blade.

I found Korbel Speed is quite hard and stiff, very good for hitting, I wonder if any one has tried it with SP?
