It is a custom built Hurricane Long not released to the market yet. The lens is the same as the current Hurricane Long 2 but blue handle like the Hurricane Hao. Probably he likes the colour blue rather than brown in HL2. It should have the same structure of 7 ply wood like his previous 506 as it got the same distinctive 2 red plys. May be DHS will release it as Hurricane Long 3 and charge a fortune someday.

Hurricane 3 are all composites. But you are right as far as handle is concerned.

It's probably a TB ALC with custom handles. I feel sorry for the poor suckers who will pay 500$+ for some DHS "prototype" blade like they did with the DHS 506, a blade made for tricking people into paying hundreds of dollars for a high quality PG7.

If you talk about Hurricane Hao 3 then it is not what ML is using as it got only one fiberglass-carbon layer in the middle. The one ML is using now still got the usual 2 red plys, the same as many of the DHS 7 ply all wood blades.

It's easy to paint some red lines on a Viscaria or TB ALC. This is the Hurricane Long 2 and you can see the red lines have been painted after the plies have been glued.

You are not kidding about ML painting his own blade to fool everyone and he is indeed still using his butterfly TB ALC all these years? Confused

Ma Long has a DHS contract, if someone changed the handle and painted red lines on his blade, it would be done by DHS. Do you think Christian Suss plays an Andro Kinetic? Suss, Ovtcharov and Baum all use edge tape...

First of all, I meant no offense to you. I just think we consumers should be aware that these companies are being very cynical about replacing handles on these blades, trying to make us buy expensive new blades.

Do you think cheating the customer like this is ok? It's pretty well known that Wang Liqin played a Stiga blade with Hurricane King handles for a while.
Some years ago, Yasaka claimed Ma Lin was using the Ma Lin Carbon even though he was using the Extra Offensive... not a fan of this kind of marketing.

I understand the fact that many players use blades with their sponsor's handle to boost business. They might like the structure of one blade but the handle of the other so they can enjoy the freedom of custom built by factory for them. Anything is possible but to say his blade is a TB ALC with HL handle in blue and 2 painted red plys by DHS....Beer

where's the picture showing red plys. This new blade looks far too thin to be the 506.

Wouldn't be so different from Suss using a Butterfly blade with Andro handles and Andro edge tape to hide the Tenergy sponges.

Only difference would be that DHS are more clever than Andro. Ma Long doesn't have to apply edge tape all the time.
Painting two red lines on a blade would be a simple job for a DHS blademaker.

The handle clearly shows the 2 red plys just like any normal DHS 7 ply wood blade.

DHS had already released both Hurricane Ning and Xia, although they still use Stiga Ebenholz without a handle change.

Ma Long change blade again in this year's China Open. Probably another custom made Hurricane Long. Anyone who is ready to buy the HL-3 may have to think again.....Pinch

Dhs marketing is awful. They are releasing very expensive and no player using blades on one side and cheap blades on the other.
Why clearly state a malong blade with a good price (100-120 $)instead of this mess.
And go to sell a number of blades.

Yeah, looks more like the HL2 blade, can't really see the color clearly, but it doesn't look blue.

Probably another custom blade not release to market like what Wang Hao is using. DHS said WH use their HH656 but his personal blade does not look like that at all.
Some pics show that ML's new blade has no visible red plys like the HL-1 so it could be another composite blade but beige in color. It has no pic of ML's head down the handle (same as WH's blade). It also got a simple lens styled unlike any HL series (again same as WH's blade). If DHS did not release what WH use to the market after so long then we may not see ML's blade either. He must be upset losing to WH in last month's WTTC with his HL-3 hence the blade change. Definitely not helping the HL-3 sale as it is still new to the market.
