Hellow,
I'm new to the forum, so I hate to introduce myself with yet another annoying and trivial equipment question. I'm thinking about switching to Chinese rubber on my forehand (I've used Chinese rubber before, so I know what I'm doing). I previously used a pretty decent cut of Hurricane 3 on Japanese sponge, but I am intrigued by the prospect of Globe 999, which seems to be getting good hype as some "awesome Chinese rubber" and so forth and so on. Obviously they're not the same thing, so for any who have experience with both, could you please elaborate on the differences between Hurricane (preferably 3) and Globe 999. Your help is greatly appreciated. |

Tackier and lighter than Hurricane. The topsheet is more soft , as well. The control on the Globe 999T I was using had more since I was using a softer sponge version. I prefer Globe 999T over Hurricane. Globe makes the many sponge softness so I liked the variety compared to the Hurricane unless you make a custom topesheet and sponge.

globe 999t is way more controllable than hurricane 3, also the jap sponge version of 999t is much lighter than the chinese 999t, absorbs glue better than h3 too

Man, it all depends on luck of the draw and what you get. I prefer topsheets because I can pick the exact sponge that's right for myself or my customer. Seems like I have better luck with sponge consistency when I buy them seperate. I prefer the 999t topsheet because it's a lot cheaper than hurricane topsheets, although I still do have a couple of h2 tops left. And yes, I prefer the way it plays as well. Certainly over stock h3 on dhs #20. |

Plays a bit flatter than Hurricane 3 does. A bit weird when doing faster topspinning than the more predictable Hurricane 3. Much more flexible in what it can do however.
