There is $70,000 in prize money for a US Tournament this summer! But only 3 days remaining to enter the event.
Yes, that's the US Open in Grand Rapids, MI. All the material you need to select an event, register online or mail/fax an entry is available here: http://www.usatt.org/events/2010_usopen/ The USATT staff tells me that a 27 player contingent from India has entered, as well as groups from Japan, Congo and several Latin America countries the spelling of which I would butcher. A $75 late fee is in place because you didn't pull the trigger by the 7th of May, but better late than never! You'll want to be in Grand Rapids to see David Zhuang and Han Xiao compete again, to see Thomas Keinath defend his US Open title and to see the Giant TV screens suspended from the ceiling over the Championship court. It's a beautiful playing hall and a better presentation than the tournament has ever had before! Plus the expanded event lineup, the decoupled Hardbat events and the first exposure most of us have ever had to LIHA variant of table tennis. I hear that the total entries now exceed 400 players, so there is still room for you to make your way to this landmark event. Beats sitting home to have your friends return and tell you what you missed! Alan 'way to go, Michigan!' |

Plus they have a $30 non-ranked level group you can play in on Sat. Go through first round then single elimination after that. Men's Singles, Women's Singles, and Under 18 groups. Then you can at least be there to watch all the finals too that day.

I might go as a spectator since I don't live too far away. I don't compete but enjoy watching good players.
